EminenceAmerican Standard Series Beta-6A 6" Mid/Bass Pro Audio Speaker, 175 Watts at 8 Ohms

The Eminence Beta 6A is a drop-in replacement for the OEM mid-woofer used by Technomad in its Paris line and others in its all weather line of speakers. I think it has, for what it's worth, a more extended and tightly defined bass. The biggest improvement is that the surround isn't cut when the mounting screws are tightened as was the case with the OEM mid-woofer. Those small tears became big tears over time which lead to premature driver failure. The new mounting holes are well away from the surround, which should add years to the speaker's iife outdoors. Technomad sells grill kits for Paris and other models which completely replace the front metal grill, the thin screen that routes the water away from the driver, and the foam protector. The result is more or less a brand new speaker that will sound great for years to come.

This is my second time ordering the beta 6 midrange speakers. I tried the ds18 speakers but they where too screechy. These eminence speakers can actually handle more mid range frequencies and just bring out the instruments in the audio. I have used these speakers for car audio and home theaters. I would suggest these over other cheap speakers. You get what you pay for. Only down side this time was that my speakers did not include the runners around the magnet as they did the first time

Standard size, great sound, better power handling than the older EMINENCE ALPHA6A. What's not to love?I use these speakers in my home system. The increased size of the magnet structure may make it difficult to place in some car doors.

I put this into a small Marshall practice amp. It's louder and cleaner than what was in the original cabinet, but I am not sure if it was "better". Does anyone have experience with using both the Alpha 6" and Beta 6"? I use a "modelling guitar preamp" to feed the Marshal so it is basically a PA speaker. I use the clean channel input. Knobs pretty much all on center.Some guitar mod websites carry the alpha speaker, but not the beta. Just wondering.

1st of I'll say the magnet size on these in comparison to an actual car audio 6.5 speaker, double the size. I had to get some of the metal in my door shaved down so that it would fit and even then it's a tight squeeze. As far as quality and clarity I've yet to meet speakers there size and cost that can compare. If you want the full effect I recommend an amp because it's the only way you'll get the full effect from these speakers.

This was a replacement for a blown driver on a stage amp. Awesome sound, clear as a bell, great power handling on the low frequencies. I highly recommend it.

8"Beta speakers are good eminence for highs and clear voice quality.

I installed these to replace a old paradigm tower speakers. These speakers seem to have a spike at 700-750hz range its not a small one either, its about +10db. I know its not my room or anything because the old ones were flat along the same band and the only reason why I replaced the paradigms was to try to get more loudness which was achieved. However I expected pretty flat frequency response throughout 150hz - 2000hz off these speakers based on spec sheets, which I didn't get.

They tested at 5.3 ohm not 8 as advertised, one sounded full range with bass the other only had upper mid sound. Almost wonder if the second woofer was mislabeled at factory as one of the alpha 6.5” frequency response doesn’t go to 95hz it stops at 400hz, if so this would explain the no bass response. They are going to be returned.
