This book was a great learning resource for my psychiatric nurse practitioner board certification. It goes along with the pmhnp-bc material that is covered on the state boards. I used this book and completed 2-3 chapters a day (and completed each case study at the end of each ch) until all 17 chapters were complete. Then, I completed the 100 question test at the end of the book. Needless to say, it was well worth it because I passed my board certification on the first attempt. The chapters are short and doable for cram studying for boards. It covers exactly what is needed for the boards. Though it does have some minor errors, it is worth buying to study for the state boards. It breaks the psychopharmacology and diagnosis down very well and I plan to use it along with others texts in my career.

This is the most important book you need to study for the boards. A word of caution, though, there are a lot of type of typographical errors, and some of the information needs updating. For example, the health screening guidelines are not current with CDC information.

Has so much in it that will prepare you to take your boards. The rationale and everything is listed. I am so happy my preceptor recommended this purple book to me. I would definitely recommend for all of you!
