Nice hamper that won't do your laundry for you
It does it's job. It was exactly how it was pictured. It's very well made and makes the bathroom look great. It has a nice flat top to put things on the hamper when it is closed. Unfortunately this hamper does not do laundry or put clothes in itself (see picture).

Maybe...
I wanted the single hamper when I ordered it but I wasn't paying attention and ordered the double. I am glad I did. Having a hang-up side and dryer side makes it so much easier when I take a load of clothes to the washer. No need to sort them anymore.Nice fabric and it looks great.I will update the review in a few months if the bag or handles rip.Update 2/12/18.I am looking for BirdRock's contact info so I can get a bag replaced. It's only been a few months and one of the velcro pieces is almost off. I will update my review once I contact BirdRock to see how their customer service is.Update 4/4/18Jen from BirdRock sent me an invoice for $10 for two replacement bags on 2/19/18, I paid on 2/23/18. Today is 4/4/18 I still haven't received any bags. I've emailed Jen back many times asking for an update on when the bags will be shipped out, no reply. Today I cc'd Frank from Birdrock on another reply. His name/email was on the PayPal invoice. Let's see if he replies. Not very good customer service so far.

but I love it that much
I can't believe I'm writing a review for a laundry basket, but I love it that much, so here I am. I purchased one at the Container Store that was $90, and once I got it home, it was ok, but I felt guilty for spending that much money on something you throw dirty clothes in. I've recently moved into a new condo where storage is a premium, however, the bathroom is pretty large, which is why I decided I needed something that was publicly presentable. The quality of this hamper for $35 goes way beyond the price. It's attractive, stylish even, and very sturdy. I love it.

Saved my marriage
This solved an argument between my wife and I. Sometimes I do the laundry and sometimes she does. She wanted 1 hamper so that it was just one trip to carry it to the machines. I wanted 2 because I didn't want to sort clothes right as I'm trying to put them in the machine. Enter the Home Double Laundry Hamper. I'm happy because we can separate dirty clothes as we put them in the hamper, she's happy because she can carry all the clothes in one trip. The hamper actually looks very nice as well and includes a lid. Thanks BirdRock for saving my marriage :P just kidding. Seriously though we do love this hamper, you can even take the bags of laundry individually if your heart so desires.

Can't use due to smell of what I suspect to be formaldehyde in the MDF (medium-density fibreboard)
The design is cute, but the smell coming from the particleboard used in tbe laundry hamper is really horrible. I cleaned the surface area (the linen covering) with something that usually works on formaldehyde-type smells and washed the laundry bags in hot with a good detergent. The laundry bags smelled a little better, but the hamper did not. So I looked up the materials used in the product. The MDF listed on the amazon description is "medium-density fibreboard." I looked up "MDF board" on Wikipedia [accessed on 2 March 2018] and paid special attention to what it is made of and to safety concerns. "MDF is typically made up of 82% wood fibre, 9% urea-formaldehyde resin glue, 8% water and 1% paraffin wax." I am not sure that that formulation of resin glue is in the MDF used in the hamper, but whatever glue is used could be the cause of the horrible smell. If the manufacturer reads this review and says what type of glue is in their MDF, I would be interested in finding out. Here is a huge safety concern posted in the Wikipedia article about MDF-board products: "Formaldehyde resins are commonly used to bind together the fibres in MDF, and testing has consistently revealed that MDF products emit free formaldehyde and other volatile organic compounds that pose health risks at concentrations considered unsafe, for at least several months after manufacture. Urea formaldehyde is always being slowly released fyom the edges and surface of MDF."So my conclusion about whether or not to keep this product is that I don't want to risk continuing to keep a product that smells like and possibly emits free formaldehyde.

Exactly what I wanted - and no smell
I almost didn't get this because of some reviews about the smell - but I was wanting something exactly like this - a space-saver, with 2 areas, that would look nice out in the room, because I have no closet space. I also wanted something that would hold its shape, not crunch at the bottom like some. I have a beach-theme room so I decided to take a risk on the color and smell issue. I'm so glad I did! The color was exactly what I was hoping for, the size was perfect, and there was next to no smell...OK, maybe a very slight "new" smell that's already dissipated - but nothing bothersome at all. I love the removeable bags (we've got a plastic basketwith handles that we keep in the bottom of our closet and we'll just empty out the side that's full when we're ready to do a load, without removing the bags, because we like folding clothes in the basket. If you wanted to take the inside mesh bag to the laundry, yes, you'd have to take approx. 20 seconds to remove the 4 velcro tabs, and another 20 seconds to reattach them when you're done. (People, we are getting way too lazy if we have to complain about that!) This was a big win for us!

After a year...
I loved this basket when I got it. In fact, I bought 2, one black and one cream and traded one bag from inside of each and now my husband and I each have our own bag of "darks" and "lights" in our own separate baskets. After 18 years of marriage, that was the best decision I ever made. (He does his own laundry, now. We have 4 kids and I refuse to do THAT much laundry). A year later, the bags and the baskets are all still in great shape. The bags are easy to remove and easy to put back in once the laundry is done. I love, love, love this laundry basket!

Buy it!
I feel rather sad being so happy about a washing basket but I do love it. We had a similar cream one for 4/5 years until my youngest started using it for hiding seek! It sturdy with a magnet to shut rather than velcro which is better as the velvro was rather loud and often broke my nails. It's a lovely mid grey, the inside bag that you can undo and take down is a fab idea, I'm sure we've all tried carrying the washing down having to pick the socks up then realising after turning the washer on you've left a trail of them! Well no more...I would recommend this to all, love it! Fab delivery time too

Perfect
I really like this item. It looks nice in the bedroom, much nicer than the plastic purple one we used to have. We wanted a laundry bin with two compartments so we can separate workout gear from every day clothing. This works perfectly. The lid has a magnetic clasp which pulls the lid down and keeps it in place. It is much more rigid than you would expect and lovely quality. The fasteners to keep the baskets in place inside are a little fiddly as they fasten to the main frame with a loop which attaches with velcro but nothing major. Really pleased with the item and would definitely recommend it.

Looks Very Sleek
This is amazing for making an item you usually have to hide into something you're not afraid to have on display in your bathroom. The lid means that dodgy odours don't escape and you can place things on it when you need to (very handy if you have a small bathroom and sometimes have to play jenga with towels etc.)The detachable basket inside is handy as dragging the whole box would have been quite an effort!Overall I'm very pleased with this product.

Brilliant
When this was delivered in a flat box I thought oh no lots of fixing together but when I opened the box you just take the flat box out open it out put a piece of hardboard between the compartments and place the lid on the top. There are 2 net bags what you can attach but I’ve left them as I’m just fine with throwing the clothes in without. Overall this is a lovely laundry box the colour is lovely and no more having to go through the laundry having to separate clothes into different piles really pleased

GREAT BASKET FOR COUPLES/ PEOPLE SHARING WASHING
This is a great washing basket, I’m so happy, I had a hard time finding a basket like this that wasn’t labelled darks and lights so I’m grateful to have found this one. Me and my partner each have a side for our washing, makes life so much simpler as my washing needs to be done more regularly than hers. The basket is very sturdy and high quality and I love the fact that the netting is able to come off and be put back on with The Velcro straps. Fantastic, Thank you.
