My Belgian Shepherd chewed through every leash I bought. Finally I decided to purchase a chain leash hoping it would solve my problem. She was 4-5 months old when she destroyed the old leashes. We have had this leash for about 3 months. She is bigger and stronger and it is still very reliable. Absolutely recommend it.

I volunteer at our local animal shelter and we were having a problem with one of our powerful pit bulls deciding to play tug with our leashes every time we took him out of his kennel. He's sweet but powerfully playful. I purchased the leash in hopes he would find the chain leash less fun. It worked the very first time we used it. I was happy with the quality of the leash. The handle was sturdy and well padded, the chain leash withstood the first and only bite from our playful Pit, and the clasp seems sturdy and reliable. We are taught to hold the handle of a leash in our right hand and the left hand grasps the leash half way between you and the dog for best control. A chain leash doesn't work well unless you are wearing gloves so I wouldn't use this leash normally. Instead we hang it on the outside of our big boy's kennel so everyone can use it for him specifically.

Just what the other reviewers say, the dog no longer wants to grab the leash. I might have gotten away with the 3.0 mm chain for my 45 pound foxhound, as he is good walker on a leash. The only time he bit at the leash was if I was standing with him talking to a neighbor. If I let go of the leash, he would gather it up in his mouth and march off with it to the house. It was cute at first. Then he decided it was his place to tell me when it was time to go. Hence, the leash grabbing had to end and this purchase. He knew he met his match the first time he tried to take it in his teeth.

LATEST UPDATE, THE REPLACEMENT CAME TODAY AND OF COURSE IT IS NOT LEATHER. WE WILL SEE OF THIS ONE LASTS LONGER THAN A WEEKUPDATE ..... AFTER A WEEK OF USE THE FAUX LEATHER STRAP IS SEPERATING FROM THE NYLON WRAP. SET UP A RETURN AND REPLACEMENT, hopefully it is better quality and might even be leather as advertised.Chain is nice and heavy but I was expecting a leather strap as is stated in the description. The strap is nylon and lined with a neoprene type lining. I purchased this leash because of the leather strap, if I would have known it was a false statement I would have ordered a different brand. I don’t know why amazon allows sellers to give false information

After going through five leashes this year, I resigned myself to a metal leash. My dog loves to chew his leash as he runs and oftentimes, he’ll bring me his leash while chewing it. Although it’s absolutely adorable, it destroys them. I run with my dog and didn’t want a heavy leash. Well, this is heavy. But it doesn’t bother me nearly like I thought. In fact, I’ve found it easier to carry and manipulate when I need to because its weight allows me to get momentum and swing it around my dog if it gets stuck on the wrong side of him. Go figure! So if you’re afraid of getting a heavy leash, you might be surprised like I was. Hopefully it’s my last leash for a very long time.

This is a very durable leash. However, compared to other NON-metal leashes, it is heavy. Maybe if I was younger or stronger I wouldn't mind. You decide if it is right for you and your dog. Personally, after working with my new dog, I easily trained him not to bite the leash and not to eat through his leash, so I am no longer using this leash. I didn't return it because if my dog ever goes back to his bad habits he will be in for an unpleasant surprise - this heavier leash. Best of luck with your dog. I recommend training your dog better rather than buying this leash. You CAN do it, you just need to consistently find the time, exercise your dog enough, and treat it with respect even though you are the pack leader. Your dog will end up wanting to do the best he can for you and won't need this leash.

Bought 2 of these. This would have been a great lead had they decided to use a decent hasp. The clamp is constantly locking up to the point that I need a pair of pliers and WD-40 to open it. Had I known that they would have used such a piece of junk, I would have looked elsewhere. The leash is also very heavy so it is only necessary for large and strong breeds. And to cap it off, the metal coating has peeled off on both and is rusting the metal. Poor product.

This chain is extremely strong. Our 60lb puppy does not walk on a leash well at all. He pulls very hard when he wants something so this leash has been put through its paces. I would recommend this leash due to its strength. The only problem is the finish is pretty terrible. However, for what I paid for it I do not care. If you are a person that wants a nice looking leash, this is not the one for you.
