Updated to 5 stars! Wish they were thiccer but overall not bad.
Update! Spent first night camping with these. I’m changing my review to 5 stars. Not sure why the R value of these mats are but they were really warm and cozy. I had a tarp for footprint, tent floor, this sleep mat and a sleeping bag as layers and it was actually pretty comfortable. I would recommend. Great price and the family slept great! These mats are not 2 inches thick, they are 1.5 inches. The “pillow” portion on the head end of the mat is 2+ inches thick. It’s packed really tight in its original packaging. I made sure I took a whole day to let the foam decompress. First I unboxed them, opened the valves, Inflated them as much as I could (about 30 breaths), then tightened the cap. I let the mats’ foam expand, doing it’s thing for about 10 hours. Then went back and inflated them again to max capacity. About 4-5 more big breaths. This being said, these mats feel pretty comfortable. I haven’t taken them camping yet but am this upcoming weekend.I had these other Kamui mats that were self inflating. They were two inches thick. But the foam felt harder and had less give. Therefore they self inflated faster. But these Kamui mats were slippery as heck. I found my pillow off on the ground in middle of the night and I would slide all over them. So that’s why I kept searching for another sleep mat.The pros and cons of these Mallome mats:Pros:-Great plush material on the top that keeps you stable as you sleep, keeping your pillow and sleeping bag more or less in place.-Quality soft memory foam. It isn’t super fast at self inflating, but it’s due to the quality memory foam inside of it. (My other Kamui mats self inflated fast but felt like sleeping on cheap styrofoam.)-Price. It’s a great value for what you pay for at $40.Cons:-Only 1.5 inches thick. But it’s softer and plushy grip material that made me choose this over my previous 2 inch mat.-Need some iron lungs to initially inflate these puppies. But maybe it won’t be so bad moving forward since I’ll just roll it in a big roll, not as tight as when it’s initially out of the package.

Great sleeping pad, esp considering the price!
I have a Therm-a-Rest BaseCamp XL, which is AMAZING. My wife, who is an occasional camper, loves my sleeping pad but we can't bring ourselves to drop that much cash when the pad will only be used very occasionally.Bought this MalloMe pad instead. It is an great pad - it is soft/plush on the top, has a built in pillow at the top, and is long/wide enough for a normal adult (I'm 6'2", and fit on it just fine). It inflated easily and deflated/stored quickly too. And - when max inflated, it kept my body from hitting the ground, at least when laid out on my living room floor. Only a true night outdoors will tell, but I think this pad is a win! However, I also laid my Therm-a-Rest out side-by-side, and there is a difference. It's hard to tell how much that will matter when out in the woods, but we decided that the MalloMe is a keeper. If you're in the same spot, it is definitely worth getting to check it out - and even if you don't like it, free returns makes it worth checking out!

Subject view
This is hard to review objectively. Everyone has their own levels of comfort so I'll attempt to speak to that. Overall this product works, it does inflate and it is definitely more comfortable than sleeping on the hard floor. However I personally found that the inflating took a very long time. For a while, I thought it wasn't inflating at all. I left it open for about 30 mins + and when I came back it was finally done. It's soft but it's not very comfortable. This is where I believe you have to try this product to really see if you like it. I personally found that it was still quite hard, but I do know for sure it's still better than the alternative. I would recommend it either way.

VERY Nice And Packs Up Small
I bought this for my wife, to augment the woefully hard and thin mattress they provide on Amtrak sleepers. Her verdict: "I LOVE IT." We tested out the inflation at home, and it's easy- just unroll the mat, open the valve, and wait a couple minutes. We augmented the inflation with 5-6 breaths by mouth, closed the valve, and voila-- a great cushion! Deflation take a bit more time and effort, especially if you want to roll this up small. But opening the valve and laying on it works, and subsequent folds and laying on it some more completes the job. We love that it roll up quite small, goes into the supplied bag, and bungees to the top of a rolling suitcase, easy-peasy.The surface is ultra-soft, and one end has a slightly raised cushion for the pillow. I can't comment on durability, as we've only had this a month, but it seems sturdily made. I'm extremely pleased with this purchase, as is my wife.

Supplier won't back up a leak
Sprung a slow leak. Used in a camping trailer. The supplier wants me to find the leak and photograph it.Easy to do if you have a tub, or a pool, or a lake. How about if you're in a 10 foot popup trailer in the desert? Tested the valve in a cup of water...best I could do...not good enough for the supplier, even though all this was explained in writing.I should take a pic of the pad in a trash can and publish that...if I had a trash can.So this review is the best I can do. Decent product...if it continued to hold air.

Great price! Good product!
I am always happy when MalloMe comes out with new products. They are well made and good quality. The sleeping pad was offered to me at a full rebate to try. Of course I was excited to try it and add another great item to my camping gear. I have never had a self-inflating mat. I have always wanted one because I have heard how great they are. The one suggestion I have is to have better instructions. It was not just as simple as unrolling it and letting it self inflate. The first time, you need to help it along by pumping air into it. After that it worked fine. It feel great to lay on and would be good for camping. I love that it is easy to roll up, put the straps on and then put it in the carry bag. The price for this product is great as I have seen other similar products being sold for much more. I highly recommend this!
