Imperial 4" Louvered Vent Hood with Galvanized Mounting Pipe, Brown, GT-4B

Had some birds ramming into an old one vent to get inside - they broke it. This one seems to be holding up to them well. From the outside of the house I can observe that the flaps lift up a slight bit when the bath fan is on and recess when the fan is turned off.Some reviewers say that it clogs up when using as a dryer vent. Cannot attest to that - works great as a bath vent though.

Previous owner had a wonky duct to redirect the vent off the deck. I did some testing and cut out the old vent to verify size etc. installed this with no issues, just don’t over tighten it because it’s plastic. Other than that it works great. The inner screen is a press fit and the louvers move freely during operation. To service the duct you can remove the louvers and pop the screen out and clean it without having to remove the entire assembly.

I needed a low profile dryer vent cap because my dryer exhausts right on my back patio.I really like the brown color. I also like the idea of the screen as my vent is low to the ground, and I don't want critters crawling in to find a warm spot.The cap installed easily, except for the fact that it does not come with a tail pipe. I had to cut the pipe off my old dryer cap and fit it to this new one. That worked fine, but took a little while.The flaps open and close quickly, and can be bent to remove them for cleaning when needed.The screen inside is simply a piece of 1/4 inch hardware cloth cut in a circle and wedged into the opening. I can easily push it out of the way with my finger. That will come in handy when I eventually need to get lint out of the screen, but I wish it were more firmly connected. Hopefully it's enough to discourage pests.

I ordered this to replace a broken cap on a bathroom vent. Birds had gotten in and so I wanted this one because it had the screen included. The quality seems good and it fit perfectly where the old one had been, screw holes lined up perfectly. So far it’s working exactly as I had hoped.

Works great for me. This was a replacement for another 4" vent that have a louver missing. Fits just right and looks great. Screen was an added bonus- It can be adjusted forward & backward as needed, or removed if you don't want it. Louvers operate freely when the vent is on, and close completely when off.I am amiss at some of the reviews criticizing the look or size. It fits a 4" vent that fits perfectly in the 4" tube and looks like brown plastic. It blends in well with darker colored exteriors.

The vent cap is well built, made in Canada, if you care where it's made. However, like another reviewer mentioned, the varmint screen came loose when delivered and it was easy to put it back in. If it's that easy to put back in, it's also very easy for a squirrel to remove it or push it through. The varmint screen is friction fit, not mechanically fastened. I'm sure it'll deter small mice, birds, etc. probably not for squirrels.The reason I bought it is because my vent louvered was chewed up by a squirrel and it came inside the vent pipe and did some minor damage to the flexible vent pipe. It was bad enough that I need to replace the entire pipe. After doing some research, I thought this would be a perfect replacement.For those who are trying to deter mice or birds, this is a 5 star product, but for me, I have to give it a 3 stars.My suggestion to the manufacturer is to improve on securing the screen just so it won't be easily removed or at least strong enough to deter squirrels. A simple solution is to change the shape of the screen with 2 small "ears" just so the "ears" can be secured with small screws.In my case, I decided to return it. Then I get a regular vent cover from a local hardware store, drill some long weather resistant deck screws through the circular sides of the flange. The end result is like a torture chamber but I'm sure no squirrels will be getting in.Hope this helps those who are trying to deter squirrels.

I was very confused when ordering this part for my clothes dryer vent. I first ordered the part in the six inch size and it was too big. I then realized the size of the vent is based on the diameter of the inside pipe. I read all of the reviews on this product and a few people stated they removed the inside screen. I did the same because I know dryer lint will eventually collect in the wire. Every few years I have to replace this part because the Florida sun bakes the plastic until the louvers disintegrate. I have tried to find this part at Home Depot, but you have to buy the entire vent kit to get it which I don't need. The installation was so easy, this woman did it herself!! Thank you Amazon for always having what I need.

The flaps were breaking off of the old dryer vent after several years of the very hot sun here in the SW. I went on line and looked up the same brand, but then saw this one with the same dimensions, but with the screen. The screws fit back in the same holes perfectly and was very easy to install. I had a problem with a dryer vent in a previous home in the Atlanta area, where the Norwegian roof rats common in Atlanta had entered my crawl space by getting in the dryer vent and then broke it giving them a great way in and out.I fixed it but it was a problem for a while.This vent prevents that from ever happening.

Works well so far. We’ll see how well it stands up to the weather, long term .
