Usborne Chess Book Hardcover – Import, September 15, 2016

It’s an amazing book (as all the USBORN books)! I bought it for my son who is interested in chess. He liked to take it with him for our multiple car rides this summer and always goes back to this book if he is not sure about the rules. I love it because it helped me to refresh my memory as I haven’t played chess for 20 years.

This book has truly been a remarkable in the way my little one approaches chess. The illustrations are simply captivating – colorful, engaging, and irresistible for my kiddo. And let me tell you, the instructions? Clear as day and totally kid-friendly. Starting with the basics and gradually building up, it's been a joy watching my child go from a complete newbie to playing with his dad (who didn't know he learned from this book). Another great one, Usborne books!

I have never been interested in chess. My 10 year old grandson has learned to play really well. He wants me to learn and brought his book over for me to learn with. I did not want to keep his book so I ordered my own just like it. It is very good and easy to understand. I told him I may need to cheat and use the book the first few times until I learn and only to learn. He laughed because I won't let him cheat when we play games. I have always told him that if you win because you cheat you are not a winner just a cheater.

Good book to teach kid play chess

Everything about this book is well thought out, and well laid out. Organized, colorful illustrations help teach strategies and chess knowledge. A spiral binding is perfect for younger readers (although my son is 11 and enjoys it). There are small exercises with stickers to help the reader learn how to reason and think ahead with moves. Just perfect for a beginner to intermediate chess players.
