Insightful parenting guide for aspiring mindful parents.
This book is particularly helpful for parents with children over 4/5 years old, but may not be as useful for those with younger kids. It emphasises the importance of parents regulating their own emotions before applying parenting strategies. The focus is on becoming a mindful and empathetic parent to build a meaningful and organic relationship with children. The writing is easy to digest, with a clear structure of short chapters, examples, and actionable steps.I found the second half of the book more engaging and useful, especially as someone already familiar with mindfulness concepts. If you, like me, are comfortable with managing your impulses and emotions, you might find the strategies in the second half more relevant. However, the book includes activities like journaling and generating feedback, which may not appeal to everyone and slightly lowered my rating to 4 stars.Despite this, I appreciate the value of these activities and why they are included. Overall, I recommend this book to parents willing to reflect on how they interact with their children, especially in challenging circumstances, and who seek additional support and ideas to enhance their parenting.
