Samsung SDS-P3040 4 Channel DVR Security System

The model came exactly as described and with instructions. If you know how to read and wire a computer, you should be able to do this without having to hire someone for installation or setting it up. The pictures both day and night were excellent.For the price and quality this is certainly very suitable for a residence or small business.

The product arrived one day earlier than expected, so that's a plus.All the parts came. Brand new condition.Only downside was that the box was a bit scratched up and beat up.The cameras work great, high quality.The DVR runs warm, but that's expected.Each camera comes with a 60 foot power/video cable that is more than enough to wire my house from end to end.Day time: colors are good, long rangeNight time: Black and white (due to infrared mode) and still long good range.Even though many reviews say that they had trouble setting up the port forwarding, its not as hard as it sounds.If you're not a tech geek, call samsung and they'll walk you through it and you'll have it all set up within 10-15 min.Other than that, great product

This set is such a PAIN to connect to the internet and it is overpriced for something made in China! Save your money and buy something less pricy, after 4 months of owning this set I am still trying to figure out how to use my iPhone to view my what's going on at home. I wish I'd bought a cheaper set, I bet by now I'd been able to make it work how it's supposed to! It's a $400 mistake, totally dissatisfaction!!!!

Not sure how to rate this product since the model number advertised here and on the box IS NOT the model on actual DVR. Picture quality decent considering it's not a HD system. Unable to access video feed remotely. Its possible that the model I shipped has been discontinued which is extremely important for the novice.

Not easy to install. The App that goes with the system for remote monitoring is very bad. The remote apps on the phones do not work on Wi-Fi but works great when I am outside and connected to a mobile network. The Web monitoring does not work AT ALL.Picture quality is not bad. But if you are primarily going to monitor the camera through the Web/Phone, I recommend you explore other brands.

As advertised, easy to install, easy to set up cameras have great quality. Only problem is the camera in the back has no back light. I installed a ten watt led security light and it improved clarity. I have one camera directed across the front minimal street light easy to pick out details. Would I buy another set,,, YES

Great purchase! Had it professionally installed. Installer was amazed at the great price. I did have to purchase a VEGA cord separately to connect to my monitor.

I selected this camera setup after looking around and learning a little bit. I need 4 cameras so this fit the bill. It is easy to install as long as you don't have any complex wiring runs. I didn't use the included 60ft wires as most of my runs were longer than that so I used bulk siamese RG-59(18-2) and terminated it myself.The cameras look nice installed and provide decent image quality. The daytime color images and IR night images serve my purpose of just wanting/needing to see what's going on while I'm away. The image clarity meets my needs.Play back is simple although I have yet to explore most of the setup options or connect to the DVR via the internet.The DVR runs a little warm, but has worked well so far. (1 month)Update: This unit stopped working after 1 month. Samsung support was easy to reach and they repaired the unit for free under warranty within 2 weeks. It has worked perfectly since. The directions are not especially good, but phone support from Samsung is very helpful and resolved all of my questions/issues. The motion detection works well, but too well for my application (outdoors). Sun shadows, moving spiderwebs, swaying branches will all trigger an event. I have been able to narrow the detection area in the settings, but it is imperfect at best. This only means it takes me a little longer to review video to find the true motion events I want to see. I can live with it and I don't think that would be as much of an issue indoors. The email alert works well but the frequency of my motion events renders it useless as when enabled I receive a constant stream of emails. :-)Funny how once you have it you always want more of a good thing. This unit does almost all of what I wanted, but I do find myself wishing for a bit more resolution on one or two of the cameras.

Works great, very clear picture, also very good night vision. Very happy with the purchase.
