646 Compact photo printer
This is an excellent item and for on the spot printing does a marvelous job. Too bad it has been discontinued. If you want album quality prints this is the quick and easy way to get them. You also have the option of making a written entry on the print or printing with a frame. At this stage a bit pricey but I do not want to have old printer out of service and none at hand so I paid the price and have back up. And I am delighted.

cartridge gets jamed inside photosmart printer!!
I have always used PH products and mostly I enjoy printing out my photos from the HP Photosmart. I brought an HP Photosmart A 640 series last year. My mistake was not checking out the printer to make sure it was ok. In the middle of printing my photos the ink cartridge got stuck and was jammed inside! It wouldn't move, trying to get tech help was laughable! This has happened before with my last HP Photosmart where the cartridge got stuck but at least I had 3 years of good use! I'm going to be more careful when it comes to HP Photo Products, it's a shame that you can't even get any support at all. Not good customer service in my opinion. SO ALWAYS check out your product to make sure it's not defective, then you can return it or get your money back!

I Love This Printer!!
This printer is great. I have been playing with it and its gonna take some time for me to know the in and outs, however it seems to be really user friendly. The pictures are nice, there is no way for you to edit on the printer except for basics red eye, & cropping. you cannot fix blurry images. But all in all a good printer for a good price :) Im satisfied.

this one works pretty good however the LCD screen is broken and won't ...
I had a lot of problems getting one of the HP compact printers to work with my mac book pro. However, this one works pretty good however the LCD screen is broken and won't lay flat when not in use, even though they said it was new never out of the box or used. I just did not want to deal with returning one more item, so I kept it. It does not hinder the operation of the printer so I just chalked it up to my bad luck.

Nice little printer and fast, but a litte tinny
I purchased this printer to replace my Epson Picturemate. The Picturemate prints fantastic pix, but since I use it only sparingly the ink pad becomes saturated and I would get maybe 10-15 pix from a package of 100 sheets of paper and ink.The HP A646 is a nice little printed with a small footprint (which was something that was high on my list of must haves), it's kind of "tinny" (the reason for the 4-Star rating) but since I do not plan to travel with it (it comes with a nice carrying case) it shouldn't be a problem. Pros: It's as fast as the Epson, love the Bluetooth connectivity (it works perfectly with my BlackBerry), pictures are clear and sharp, easy to set up (no CDs or software to install unless you want to), color touch screen to edit and control print functions, nice carrying bag; and at Amazon a great price and free S&H.Cons: Like I stated kind of flimsily, no USB Cable, start up ink cartridge prints about 10 pix, and of course, dealing with the cost of HP ink.But like I said previous, the Epson was no bargain if I only got 15 pix from their photo ink/paper package.

want to buy a small HP printer?
HP does no longer make these small printers however this series from the beginning were very usefull as a replacement for the earlier days of Polaroid. But there were more very usefull possibilities in my workflow. There was no software CD included so when you f.i. work with Windows-7 you have to go into the procedure of installing with the help of HP's website. Not the easiest way. The type I bought can read different card sizes exept the professional Compact Flash Cards. I ordered basically on the information from HP. That says that there are two powersupplies available: 110 Volt and 110-230 Volt. However I've ordered the type for international use, the Amazon supplier send me the 110 Volt. I've contacted him but he refuses to help me with a change. I went to HP about this and they offered me help. Free of charge they promised me to send the other one. But -you guess.....- I've got exactly the same 110 Volt power supply. I've started a discussion with HP and then they answerred me that it would be no problem to use the 110 Volt on a 230 Volt outlet! I've invited HP to discuss that matter with staff and technicians but they still told me that this would be possible (even when physically impossible). I still don't agree. Silently HP stepped back from manufacturing of these printers, sorry for us users. But sorry for HP too. In the future I'm sure never to buy a HP printer again from these amateurs, however I've bought already 6 printers before.
