A Small Device Which Makes A Huge Differemce
After struggling for weeks wondering why my desk top PC was slower than all my other devices I finally decided that it must be the connection. The TP link I was using was very old. I bought this one as it seemed inexpensive. My download speed has increased fourfold (confirmed by Ookla) and I no longer need to reset the router, or use Epson connect, before I use the wireless printer. Easy to install. Ignore the CD and the instructions if your OS is Windows 10. Plug in and check available WiFi connections. Mine showed my home hub and prompted the password code. Code entered and it started to work and did everything as described. I am very pleased with this purchase. I would recommend.

Good - for strong connections
Using this as a stopgap for my desktop PC while we get a wired connection sorted out.TL;DR: Can be finicky on weak connections and typical workarounds don't, um, work. Now that the router is about 6 feet and 1 solid floor vertically below my PC, it works wonderfully - I can game, stream, and download no problem. All three at once if I like.Initially, my router was significantly further away - 1 solid floor, 2 interior brick walls and an additional 12 feet -and I had a bit of an issue with it. Nothing to do with installation - Windows 10 recognised the tecknet chip inside it just fine and got it running with no need for the minidisk or any download. As the listing says, the item can operate on 2 different bands of wifi, depending on how strong the signal is: one that's beefier but more fragile, and one that's slower but steadier. The problem is that there is no way for the user to control which band it uses; it's fully automated and even while digging deep in Windows 10's gubbins, you can't manually restrict it to one band or the other. So it will switch. A lot.It would begin on the slow-but-steady band as I booted up my PC, as befitting a router so far away. Perfectly suitable for checking emails and web browsing. But then I would try to download an update patch for my MMO video game. Presumably sensing that I was trying to download something, the device would switch to the beefier band. The act of switching would disconnect the internet for about 500-1000ms, and since the MMO I play doesn't have very robust disconnection resilience on its download handler, the download would cancel itself and I would have to ask it to begin again. Then, realising that the beefier band wasn't actually stable at this distance and that it was about to lose connection, the device would switch back to the slow-but-steady band again - once again disconnecting the download and forcing me to restart it.This cycle repeated every 30 seconds - 2 minutes, forever. My solution was nothing to do with the device - I bought an extension cable to go between the connection socket and the router, and moved the router 2 rooms closer until it was directly below my PC. Now the device can consistently use the beefier connection band, and it's happy. I'm happy. It's probably going to work fine until I can get my wired connection. But, just be aware that if your router is far away or your wifi signal is otherwise obstructed or weak, you will struggle to successfully make large downloads via this device. Either move your computer closer, move the router closer, buy a wifi booster, or buy a product that advertises its use for weak wifi connections.

Rejuvenated old PC!
Didn't expect this to work with my 9 year old PC using windows 10.Plugged in to USB port..nothing happened except a flashing light on the dongle.Undeterred I went into network settings and next to ethernet connection was a device saying reaktek. So I tried to connect and it asked for WiFi password.Once entered the light on dongle flashed faster and hey presto I had a WiFi connection.Ethernet cable unplugged YouTube worked so fast but I now wanted to move to my son's bedroom which was far away from the router.😱Once computer set up upstairs, powered PC on and low and behold amazing WiFi and Internet running at a great speed.I am more than delighted at how well this little piece of tech works and for the money it's exceptional.

Amazing!
I bought this to replace another wifi stick that had come with my computer. The base unit is quite old but functions well, however lack of wifi was making my computer unusable and I need it for my small business. So, I gave in trying to make it work and bought this for the very affordable price of about 7 pounds and wow, I'm so impressed! I was a bit wary of other reviews complaining of viruses but I just used the disk included and had no issue at all. Bit confusing to set up but only because my computer didn't follow the steps it mentioned in the booklet, but not marking off any stars because I didn't exactly struggle to set it up either, my computer mostly did it for me. Now my wifi is SUPER fast and I can even watch youtube videos without buffering, my web pages load in seconds rather than minutes. Absolutely no regrets, I just hope this one lasts!
