MXL AC-400 Personal USB Web Conferencing Microphone

Perfect. I use it for gaming and it has great sound.

Bought for my home office because I work from home. While my office is relatively quiet, there is still some distant background noise when kids running through house etc. My built-in computer mic, or display mic, always picked up that background noise. I did some simple tests once I got this mic and it seems to do a pretty good job at only picking up my voice and masking the background noise. If it's anything loud it's not that you absolutely won't hear the background noise, but comparing to my built-in omnidirectional mics this does make a big difference. Overall nice quality, heavy base. Plugged USB directly into my macbook pro and worked without any kind of setup. So far so good. The mic sits about 2 feet from my mouth and picks me up just fine. Probably would work better even closer, but I just leave it at the back of my desk behind my monitors with the mic bent under the monitor pointing at my face. Works fine for skype / google hangouts etc.

Would have given it full marks but the mute light doesn’t work so I have to guess if the mic is on or off :(

Overall, this is a good improvement over the microphone in my Logitech camera I was using. The quality is better... but it still picks up typing on the keyboard... so you can;t multitask while on a conference call. But overall, this is the best solution if you want a relatively unintrusive mic for conference calls or skype.

This mic was satisfactory in it's performance, but as was the case in other reviews it stopped working in just a few weeks. I was 3 days out of return time window so it was replaced. I am not going to waste time setting it up again. I will just sell the replacement for a discount and be done with this mic all together.
