fun little beast of a quad
I like flying quads. I'm always chasing the dragon for the next quad to fly. I like flying everything from the Phantoms to the nano quads. Usually I check reviews and watch youtube videos to try to stay informed. This quad is a fun little beast. I was very surprised how stable it was out of the box. I recommend adding the prop guard as well, it added some stability to it. The prop guards did not come with the original purchase, it was an add-on. This quad does not need to be registered, it is lighter than the FAA .55 requirement. The X4 was fun enough to fly it warranted having more than just one.It flies well indoors and outdoors. Inside, it got completely submerged in water. I thought it would be finished. I gave it a day to dry off and it flew again, as good as before. There is only one down side I have found, and this is my fault. I was trying to show someone one of the props and I did not use the prop pulling tool. I ended up pulling the engine out completely and ripping the wires. I was able to replace the engine, but it has a vibration on that prop. I can probably fix it if I pull the motor out again, but it flies ok now. I'm trying different things like rubber bands on the affected engine, but so far it still vibrates.Pros:- inexpensive- part kits are easily available- easy to work on- fun to fly- flight time surprised me. I expected 5 - 7 minutes, but it seemed longerCons:- minor, but I don't like how the battery connection has to be looped around when connected to the quad.

I calibrated the motors like it says to do
I purchased this item thinking I would be able to fly it out of the box. I charged the batteries and read the instructions. I calibrated the motors like it says to do, but one of the motors was not fully functional. The Quadcopter would always drift to one direction. I calibrated the motors over and over again, but got the same results. I even elevated the side that the Quadcopter was drifting and calibrated it. Nothing worked. I contacted the supplier and they said they could send a replacement motor. Like I have the skills to replace the motor. I ended up sending it back for $20 shipping. They said they would pay for the shipping if they found anything wrong with the Quadcopter. I sent the Quadcopter back, but low and behold, they found nothing wrong with it. They sent it back, worse then I sent it to them. This time the Quadcopter couldn't even get off of the table. They self balance sensor in the quadcopter didn't work anymore. The Quadcopter wasn't able to fly. It didn't get off the table. I contacted the suppliers again and told them that they made it worse. They said that I could send it back for another $20. I realized that sending it back again would be the cost of the Quadcopter. Getting the money back would still put me $40 under. I decided to quit while I was only $20 under. I have a broken Quadcopter in my closet that is just collecting dust. Do not buy this product. It is a waste of money.

Grows with you
Cool little quadcopter to learn with. Start off in low mode and as you get the hang of it you can put it in high mode and start the learning process all over again. I would suggest you get the prop protector and some extra props and batteries. The controller is nice. The quad is tried and true. Handles nicely and is small enough to practice indoors without breaking too many things in the house. Unless you live in a museum. Then you should fly outside or in the garage. Not harmful to pets and people as long as you don't fly into their hair. That could give them a bad hair day. It's pretty quiet too! That's always a plus.

The black and white model does not include the prop guard... other than that good little unit
I purchased the the black and white x4 which shows a lower cost; however, this one does not include the prop guard, but i believe the other 2 do based on other reviewers and might explain why the black and white costs less (the other two models also show a picture of prop guard where the black and white one does not..this is just to warn others that if they want the prop guard that they may want to look at the other 2 models (i had to order the prop guard seperately. it became apparent i really needed it when i was first starting and wish i would of had it from the beginning... and before others ask... i have all the original packaging and searched underneath the packing/boxes.. no prop guard found. With regard to how it performed, this is my first quadcoptor so i have nothing to compare to; but it seems to work well; but have yet to fully master it. The directions are somewhat confusing with regard to calibraton; but a youtube search can help with that. You really need more than one battery even if learning for the first time.. one battery is just not enough time to learn. I knew before hand that i might need extra batterys; but refrained from ordering them as i wanted to test the x4 out before committing to additional options. I just ordered additional batterys.I also saw repair kits that includes extra props, motors, body etc. that im still debating about getting; however, many of the repair kits are cloned parts which are not as high as quality... but there are authentic repair kits out there; one just need to be careful and do research before ordering parts/repair kit. . Im also thinking of ordering another hubson for 34 dollars rather than a repair kit that way i have an extra remote .. and another unit to switch to should something break (though i would still order parts to fix the broken one ). If i went this route, i would still order additional props.anyways, no real complaints about the unit i ordered other than i wish it came with the prop guard.

Perfect RC experience
Seriously fun little quadcopter. I wanted a little RC for indoors in winter and this is perfect. Practice precision flying in the house or take it outdoors and click it into Expert mode to really rip it up! Even can handle some windHas a surprisingly nice design and build quality for the price. Gets about 6 to 8 minutes runtime and charges in 45 min. Spare batteries are cheap too.Quite stable in flight and 4-channel control is pretty intuitive, but Expert mode is there when you need to kick it up a notch. Easy to start but hard to master makes for a perfect RC experience.Don't waste money on 2 or 3 channel copters at the mall when this kind of tech is around. Really impressed.

Best fun you can buy for such a low price.
I have several quadcopters, but for the price, the Hubsan x4 is the most fun to fly. It's very stable and easy to fly indoors (which is important as the weather gets colder outside). It's also a lot of fun to fly outside (when it is not too windy). As long as you fly it over grass and you don't fly it too far or into trees or over water (where you can lose it) the worst that can happen is a bent or broken propeller or a disarticulated arm (which you can easily pop back into place). The LEDs make it easy to see in the dark and help with orientation. Amazon got it to me within 3 business days and shipping was free. I highly recommend it. I suggest getting extra propellers and lipo batteries.

Great for trouble shooters!
Before we could fly, I had to reverse the A and B labeled propellers for both the black and white props. Flys fine now but the labelling of the props and casing is now backwards. I'm not sure that this is something the average buyer would figure out.

What a great little Quad copter not only for a beginner but ...
What a great little Quad copter not only for a beginner but even for a person who has had a little more experience. Its Expert level now allows me to easily combat a windy day as I try to learn how to fly it towards me, whichseems to be the most difficult part of flying. I found flying it in tight circles helps to keep one orientated. My nextstep is to make the circles larger and larger so I can gradually get used to the controls in all directions. The Hubsan X4 is amazing. It is preparing me to become a better flier for the more expensive and largerQuad copters like the Alias which I also purchased from the good people of Amazon.Happy flying!
