Question 1

Can each remote be programmed to control specific plugs (remote a to control only plugs 1,2 and 3 and remote b to control plugs 4 and 5)

Essentially one remote operates up to 5 plugs and the second remote is a spare one. That said as you select which plug by the individual tab I'm sure you could use it as suggested Picture not very clear but each plug has a number that corresponds with the remote so by pointing it to the respective plugs and pressing the remote number it switches them on or off so working on that theory it should do as you require it. I can definitely recommend them.

Question 2

Can these be programmed so that all sockets may be switch on/off at once?

The DEWENWILS Remote Control Sockets are programmable and expandable, which also called learning function. 1 on-off buttons can control up to 5 individual switches through learning function. Therefore, you can freely add extra remotes and sockets (Same Model) to expand your remote control system per manual.

can i connect to my computer and printer

Accepted Answer

Yes, BUT !  You can use them to kill your (Home) office appliances at the press of a button, rather than leaving stuff on standby - which saves power. However, you should really shut down computers (PC, laptop, Mac etc) properly in accordance with usual shut-down procedures BEFORE killing the power; otherwise you may experiences unsaved data losses or start-up issues on rebooting. When you kill the power you also kill standby & sleep modes and USB outputs on PC's and / but laptops will continue to run while they have battery power available.  Printers, scanners etc should be OK but AirPrint will be disabled if your WiFi printer is connected to the switches.  Modems, Routers & Data Switches should not be attached unless you want to kill your eternet and/or WiFi/broadband networks. Similarly, you may want to make selective decisions on battery chargers connected to the switches.  Hope this helps

Question 4

It looks like each remote has 10 buttons, so 'on' and 'off' for each of the 5 plugs. Why then are there 2 remotes?

The 2 remotes have the same function.
This is just for convenience as you can keep one remote in bedroom and the other one in living kroom.
