Educational Insights Dino Checkers

I had been wanting to get checkers for our kids for Christmas. For months they've been telling me about playing "Dino Checkers" with the kids in their class at recess. When I found it I was so excited. This is such a fun twist on the game and we have all really enjoyed playing it. The kids play great with each other and Mommy and Daddy have enjoyed playing with them too. The same basic rules as checkers. The main pieces are the Apatosaurus dinosaur. When they reach the other side and can be "kinged" you switch it for a T-Rex piece. Your captured pieces are held in a "tar pit". This game is a lot of fun for the whole family!

I was really looking forward to this board, and I was slightly disappointed with the quality. It's still fun, but the cheap, "dollar store" feel of the pieces takes away some of it. It wasn't expensive, and I'm glad I got it, I just would not buy it as a gift, because of the above. I wish they made it little better and even charged slightly more for it.

My son loves it. Its great fun.

How do you make checkers even cooler? Add dinosaurs! I got this for a friend who's really into dinosaurs, and we played it immediately. It's so much fun to roar as you jump over pieces. And as if that weren't cool enough, when you king a piece, it becomes a t-rex. And when you jump over a piece, you get to throw that piece into the 'tar pits'. This game is so much fun, I recommend it for dinosaur lovers and checkers lovers alike.

It is intended for young children and should contain a few extra pieces- as it is not possible to play the game without all pieces in place.Also it did not arrive in good condition box was bent -looked like returned merchandise. We needed to use it as it ws a bithday gift and waas time sensitive. The idea of using different pieces and that they are dinosaurs is helpful for young children --It is motiveating to learn the rules of checkers--

This game is genius. My younger boys love the layout and they can just play with the dinos as well! Patience is welcome as they are able to still play and "feed" or "bathe", their dinos while waiting for their next turn!

Checkers with dinosaurs and lava slides. Cool!Your regular checkers are each a stegosaurus. Once they become a king you exchange them with tyrannosaurus rex figures. Of course! When a checker is jumped you need to slide the dinosaur checker down the river of lava, with sound effects! It's a nice, simple game. We used a plastic butter tub to store the pieces inside the box.

I wanted to introduce my kids and nephew (5 and 7 years old) to checkers but found the regular checkers to be a bit intimidating for the kids. This game however makes checkers fun and the boys request to play it ALL the time.
