Q: why wont the url to the tutorials work?

don't know, I never got the url to work. I tried to contact the seller with no luck. the kit was also missing the SD card.

Q: keeps saying timed out waiting for packet header?

Jumper from and to gpoi0 before uploading. Remove after uploading and press reset on esp module.

Q: Package contains a link to an invalid address for download. Message sent 2 days ago, still waiting?

I had a similar issue, you have to type it exactly as it appears on the box. If you put anything before or after what's on there it will not work

Connect a jumper from ground to gpio0. Then upload sketch. Remove jumper afterwards and reset the esp module.
