DIY Mold Test Kit - Easy to Use Precise Mold Detection and Identification - 3 Swab Kit For Direct Mold Testing

Bought this to test the window frames in my apartment. I live in a 100 year old building with cheap 70's aluminum windows that don't seal. Did the test, sent it in and yes, there is mold. It is interesting how fast your landlord will move when you say the word "mold". Windows were cleaned and will shortly be replaced.

They told me- when giving me free consult on Swab- Told me: you should do air sample to see what is really there.They referred to one sample by wrong name of room then said they were tired when I said I do not have a sample named that- 1, 2, 3 swabs.Each w a Named Area.And since it does not give data on actual species- it may not, in fact, BE toxic. They scare you on purpose.You will hear the person plinking on keyboard when they should be advising and listening.Owned by BioBalance- so their staff is not talking about homeowner cheap fixes: buy 12% HP: add water to make 6% hydrogen p/ spray - using a spray bottle/only use Peroxide on surfaces that won't be wrecked by it- test it first- /dwell time 10 min./can agitate w brush/ brush like a cleaning the painted car finish soft brush/to get in floor crannies w dust-wipe up. clean up/HEPA Vac- True HEPA like by Atrix- Omega Series-None of these are discussed as ways to mitigate some low % count settled mold on a floor.It is a crock to say: You should test your air. You should call a remediation expert- when they don't even tell you the species-that is where you learn of the toxigenic potent aspect and potential hazards.This test is akin counting your moles then assuming you have cancer because you have 10 tiny moles on your body.Wasted time with the expert who was too tired to read what was on her desk. Plink plink of keyboard audible. Sadly cannot recommend this Swab test as a valuable source of data and free consult was bunk.

I was very excited to use this to diagnose a few molds I have found in my house. Unfortunately both of the kits that I ordered did not have the petri dishes or the return envelope they said they were supposed to in the instructions. I was unable to use them and was very disappointed. Other than that the kit looks very good quality with clear and easy to read instructions.

The kit I ordered comes with 3 swabs for surface testing, so no petri dishes are included. If you want to do air testing, get a different kit. It is ideal for visible mold on a surface. I called and they said you can even use it to submit a sample of gunk in a sink drain to see what's growing in there. The only issue is there is no pre-paid return label for returning the samples; you are on your own figuring out how to ship it back and how much to pay for that. Just be sure it doesn't take too long or it will invalidate the test.

This DIY mold testing kit is great to have on hand for when you stumble onto what could be possible mold spores around the house. Included within the kit are three swabs for testing three different areas and/or rooms. A very simple process – just swab any visible mold and seal up the sample in its container. The instructions were slightly misleading, speaking about foil envelopes and petri dishes that the kit, in fact, didn’t come with. That being said, the tests were able to be conducted regardless, so my only qualm is more about the confusion this brings rather than the upset of not receiving said items. I like how easy it is to register your kit on the website. Also, keep in mind that the swabs do have expiration dates, so if you don’t have a reason to use each swab in a timely fashion, you will need to refresh your kit (but that's to be expected). Something I didn’t love about this kit was the absence of a shipping label – given the price, this seems like an oversight. Overall, a good kit that serves its purpose, but there’s certainly room for improvement.

This test kit was fantastic! Being able to have peace of mind about whether its mold or not was a blessing. Then it tells what kind of mold it is,which is very helpful. I definitely would recommend this kit to anyone wanting to know.

This didn’t come with perro dishes. It’s hard to test when you have q-tips only.
