Worked as replacement for WR9X599 Temperature Control
The temperature control on my 25 year old GE fridge was not working correctly. It would cool to the proper temps, then turn off, and occasionally not come back on. By turning the Temp Control knob on/off and jiggling it, the fridge would come back on. This got worse and worse. The part number for my temp control is WR09X0599 (also WR9X599). This part is not available anywhere. I contacted 5 repair shops and none of them would work on my fridge since the part was no longer available, and they all recommended replacing the fridge.I saw a review from Penny J that seemed to have the same problem, so I ordered this part.Short version ... it worked!! My fridge is now working properly again for $15. I did not have to buy a new fridge (and have my almost fine fridge toss into a landfill).Details on this part:- the packaging was non existent! It had been in a flimsy box inside an envelope, and had come out of the box, so it was basically shipped in an envelope. How it survived that I do not know.- I did have to bend the mounting tabs slightly to line up with the holes where the previous controller was, about 2mm adjustments on both sides- I did have to get 2 screws to fit- the temp probe part is about 4" shorter than my original X599 controller , but it was still enough to go into the freezer area and the temps in the fridge/freezer are perfect- once installed, getting the temp right in the freezer did require some adjustments to the set screw. The large temp control knob makes fine adjustments to the temp. But the small set (preload) screw makes larger adjustments. At first, the freezer temp went to 20 degrees and stopped. The set screw is located right next to where you push the larger temp control knob on. In the end, turning it 1.5 turns counter clockwise got my freezer to zero.- It is working great, zero in freezer, 37 in fridge, all fixed for $15!!

Reviews noting fit issues were correct, but it worked great
Annoying that the threads in the mounting brackets donโt match originals and the spacing was wrong. Survivable modifications. My refrigerator was sort of working, but not maintaining temperature. You could thump on the thermostat and it would turn on or off. Turning colder and hotter and just manipulating it, could turn it on, but it just never ran long enough or consistently enough before giving this part a shot. This was my issue and beyond the install fit problems it has been maintaining temperature consistently now for many weeks. I never had to tweak the tiny adjustment screw others mention. It couldnโt maintain any safe temp before. May not save this fridge long term, but it fixed what was broken and Iโm confident to use it again.

Save your refrigerator
Our GE refrigerator (TBG25PAXGRWW) was purchased in 1997 (28 years old). Recently it was either cooling everything too much, or things were melting. The culprit was the thermostat (wr09x0562). Like many others, it is discontinued, and people are forced to buy new refrigerators because a failed $15-30 part. Anyway, we took a gamble with this one, which works despite the fact that it is not meant for a TBG25PA. Perhaps it is not so sensitive in setting the temperature, but so far (we have it for more than a week) it works fine. Two more points: The thermostat dial must be displaced by 90 deg. so you must learn how to set it. Also, the mounting screw threads differ from the original. But screws are easy to find. To consider before throwing away your refrigerator.

Temperature post (used to secure dial) not properly aligned
Installed it yesterday. Currently working. However, the post (used to secure the temperature dial) is not aligned properly and you are unable to adjust it. This, the temperature number do not align properly. I had to test it with my multimeter and add new temperature numbers on the dial (with a black marker). Disappointing since the manufacturer states it is a quality build. We will see how long it lasts.

Not the normal buyer
I bought this thermostat because it had the capillary tube that would serve my purpose. The real replacement was very expensive and mostly out of stock. I bought this one and had to modify the mounting strap to use it. I also had to adjust the temperature range since it was designed to be use in the refrigerator and not the freezer. There is an adjustment screw to make the temp lower but it took some experimentation to find the best setting. The original knob fit the control fine but the numbers were not aligned correctly and I had to make a label and stick over the numbers. I probably had 3 hours time with all the mods and would have lost money if I paid someone to do them.
