Pop & Lock – Manual Tailgate Lock for Honda Ridgeline, Fits 2005 to 2016 (Silver, PL6102, Traditional Design)

It works but it is very stiff and has come unlocked a couple times when riding down the road but overall it does work. Just be careful and done force the key either way I think he lock. I don’t see this lasting a long time due to the lock. They internals are no issues at all.

So easy to install! Locks and unlocks easy like a factory installed lock. Along with my PaceEdwards BedLocker tonneau cover my bed is secure. Watched a install online a few times, gather needed tools, 35 min later done! Also cleaned up little rust and lubed all the linkage, pops open like new!

This is a well constructed product that works very well in the Honda Ridgeline. The major components of the lock are of a quality heavy gauge metal that would not break unless unless the door was disassembled. There are exterior plastic components and if someone were to take a hammer to these components, I'm sure they could destroy them, but it is unlikely that they would be able to unlock the door. Frankly, if someone were to take a hammer to my truck, I would rather that the outer components break off than remain intact and possibly cause further damage to the body of the tailgate. There are some challenges with the installation of this lock, however. My suggestions are as follows: On Step 1, after the top panel of the tailgate has been removed, take a picture of the orientation of the white clips. They basically all go the same direction. You remove the clips from the tailgate and replace them in the plastic top panel that you have removed from the tailgate. The panel snaps back into the tailgate during reassembly. In Step 2, you will have to file the washers on both of the screws holding the factory handle in place. This is not hard, but it is nice to know about it in advance as other reviewers of this lock have noted. Don't worry about weakening the washer, as the bracket is more than strong enough to make up for any change in the washer. In Step 3, you are drilling through plastic and it is very helpful to have a shop vac around to pick up the plastic drill fragments. They could jam up the lock in the future if you don't remove them. The drilling is very easy to do. In Step 5, the orientation of this picture is 180 degrees rotated from the other pictures. Now comes the really tricky part that takes a bit of a touch. I had to file parts of the crank rod slot (and the tab that it fits over) very slightly to get this lock to work really well. Don't even try to do this unless you have a real feel for mechanical parts/mechanisms as you could easily overdo it (and then you are faced with ordering another crank rod from the manufacturer). I may have just gotten a set that came a little "tight" and your installation may go perfectly without any of these adjustments. I would be really interested to hear if any other reviewers had this problem.

As I read in another review, be sure to document the direction of the white clips when removing the tailgate liner. Instructions are not very clear, but it was fairly easy to see where everything fit. Be sure and test several times before re-assembling tailgate. This lock mechanism (when locked) prevents the opening of the drop down tailgate and the swing door.

Exactly what I needed -- the Pop & Lock accomplished complete security for my 2010 Honda Ridgeline after installing a Peragon retractable cover. I was happy to find that the locking function secured both release latches on my Ridgeline tailgate, because this question isn't easily answered from my product research; be assured the Pop & Lock solves it. I did need a replacement lock after a few months of use (a confused user can turn the lock too hard and break the internal mechanism), but Amber @ Pop & Lock's tech support/customer service center, provided the best service I could have expected. The key tumbler had broken and I was locked out of my tailgate operation, bringing extreme frustration for a "what next" answer, but Amber showed immediate concern for my problem and took steps to send me a replacement under their warranty options. I had seen other posts of service issues at Pop & Lock, but Amber delivered on her promise to help me and I couldn't be more pleased with her commitment to service and Pop & Lock's product guaranty. She made my 1-star problem into a 5-star purchase I recommend as your answer for tailgate security. My best advice echoes another review -- know how the lock functions, and treat it delicately with easy key turns and don't let anyone use it without your instruction.

Great product. Installed manual lock in under 2 hours. Works nice, now not as worried about stuff in my HR '13. As others said the instructions are minimal and pics too small. Did view you tube video from etrailer and that was excellent. Did run into one problem. The 'lock bar' was manufactured in the incorrect orientation. After viewing video and looking at manufacture pics it was evident it had been put together in wrong orientation. I tried several ways to do per directions but no go. So I removed rivet and corrected orientation and it worked fine. Don't know if this was me or just incorrect manufacturing. Otherwise great product.

The installation was far easier than expected. YouTube had one for the mechanical & electric kit. The mechanical one was easy to follow then I just quit.

Everything went well until the end when the latch would not lock or unlock. Took an extra hour to figure out that they key lock itself is NOT in a Neutro Position, it either came from manufacture not in the N position or it went out of N position when I was testing it myself. I would give it an 5 star if it was not for this extra hour that I had to spend to figurethis out. I installed on a 2013 Honda Ridgeline RTL model. Thanks

Watch the video on youtube for installation, the included instructions have tiny little pictures that are tough to see.. It installs fairly quickly though, and the drilling template works very well, but I had problems with one of the screws attaching the lock itself. If you can use something else, do. One of the included phillips screws stripped very quickly which surprised me, and will require replacing at some point. Also the washer that needs to be filed down is ridiculous, why not just include pre-filed washers? Not everybody has a file or grinder lying around. Seems kind of cheaply built too, time will tell I guess. Lots of rough cuts and sharp edges. I wish there was a better option, or at least an updated product.

This tail gate lock fit my 2013 Rigdeline perfectly. After watching a video on installation and going two washers a little, it could be installed easily in about 45 minutes. If I can do it ,anybody can!!

Worked as it said and very easy to install yourself if you have any knowledge of tools at all. Key seems a little stiff to turn this is why i only give 4 stars

Works great. Easy Install. Keeps my tailgate secure and the contents secure when I lock the tonneau cover also. I have a black Ridgeline and the black lock looks like it came from the factory.
