Makes whole wheat bread that tastes better than commercial mixes
Since I purchased an Oster Expressbake Bread Machine 3 months ago, I had only used commercial bread mixes before today. It was time for some variety, so I ordered Bob's Red Mill whole wheat flour and a different brand of unbleached bread flour to start from scratch. The 2-lb. loaf in the picture is from the honey grain bread recipe in the Oster instructions. The recipe uses about 2/3 unbleached flour and 1/3 whole-wheat flour plus a smaller amount of quick cook oats. I worried that the whole wheat would create a small, dense loaf, but the picture shows the loaf rose nice and tall. The flavor is wheaty but still tastes light, and the crumb texture is better than the mixes I've tried. With two generous-sized bags of Bob's wheat flour in my refrigerator, I will no longer hesitate to bake my own whole-wheat bread. You will love the results you get with this excellent product.

Best I've Ever Had
I make a lot of bread in various bread machines, and this flour makes the absolutely best whole wheat bread. I can't figure out why, but it rises and tastes better than any other brand I've tried. I've had to cut other whole wheat flours with bread flour to get a good rise, and to reduce the bitter flavor. With Bob's I can use 100% whole wheat, and I get a great result. I'd love to know what the secret is. Unfortunately, this often seems to be in short supply and subject to significant price gouging. Looking forward to post-pandemic abundance and lower prices.
