A very good additive!
I first used Slick 50 in the late 80s when it debuted and things change, right, but the description says "Original Formula" so I'm hoping that's not just sales hypeOne thing I noticed immediately is that the 80s formula's instruction was to drive at least 50 miles after adding this to fresh oil (to allow it to circulate through and adhere to the lifters etc) and it was a "once and done" additive... but the instruction on THIS modern "original formula" didn't say anything about driving ANY distance.. AND it's recommended to add once a year.. so I'm wondering if the manufacturer realized a "once and done" formula is bad for sales? which would logically mean it's not actually the original formula, wouldn't it?In any case, I *will* say that just as I was aiming for, it stopped the lifter's tapping noise that we old-car owners experience when warming up the car (that a simple oil change doesn't fix) which makes me happy, and I'm hoping that just like in the 80s that my engine will keep on running smoothly even when the oil's a little low ((in the 80s after driving it the recommended 50 miles, my bf checked the oil and it was bone dry!!! but the engine was running smoothly-- neither of us knew why the oil disappeared but I never had any problems for the next 6 years I owned the car))So... as far as needing to add it again in a year.. only time will tell

Great for high mileage vehicles!
When I was a young adult, I always drove $100 beaters! A trick a my dad taught before I could even drive was, every couple oil changes, ALWAYS put a quart of Slick 50 in! Just in case! It bonds to the engine and creates a protective coat that lasts a long time! Even if you're leaking oil! Now I'm driving a Saturn Ion with 213,000 miles on it. Before I put the slick 50 in it I was getting about 18 miles to the gallon local. Since I put it in I'm getting about 23 to 25 miles a gallon local. With that high a mileage I'm changing my oil religiously every 3,000 miles. So, off setting for the cost of the Slick 50, it's definitely not saving me any money on gas. But it's CLEARLY reducing the friction in my engine! Thereby extending it's life! Which, until I'm ready to buy a new car, is worth FAR MORE than how much it costs for me to add one court of Slick 50 every 3,000 miles!! What it's saving me on gas is just a bonus!

My true Slick50 story…
This is my slick 50 story:I’ve been using this product since I mail ordered ($50) a quart from the pages of Car and Driver in the late 80s.In 1993 while stationed overseas in Germany, I was on a summertime trip to Southern Italy, in my 1990 Corrado G60 (tuned/modified), it was hot as hell but I had treated my car with slick 50 more than a year before. I was out for about a week driving from city to city, often at 120-130+ mph on both the autobahn and autostrada, including one run at 140 mph behind a Lamborghini in the dolomites northern Italy for about five minutes!Near the end of my weeklong trip while I was on my way back to Germany from Southern Italy, I noticed that my ca was running just a little rough, I could feel it thru the steering wheel at times, I ignored it however, when I got home I was almost 3 quarts of oil low, the car only takes 4 quarts (Mobile 1) ! STILL, the car had only been running slightly warm in the southern Italy heat…, it never heated up to a dangerous temp, gas mileage was still excellent. to this day I still own the vehicle (now at 110k mi) and it’s never had an engine problem! You can say what you want about this product, you can believe the naysayers, critics, lawsuits, you can believe whether it works or not, but I make it a point to always have slick 50 in every engine I own, and I’ve never once had ANY engine problems!
