Fascinating Book
I am just over half way through the book. It goes further than just promoting an anti-inflammatory diet. It also discusses why some foods are beneficial specifically to lipedema and lyphadema. It gets into the science, but in an easy way, plus practical ways to implement. Simple ideas to get diet started with some good general meal plans and recipes. It's very well done. It also goes into specific nutrients and supplements.I started developing pea sized lumps under my thighs during a 2 year low level carbon monoxide poisoning. The CO left me with numerous other health issues including chronic fatigue. I used a diet (SCD) and other interventions to heal. When I did finally have the energy to exercise my legs would tone up. Then I was able to expand my diet in the last 1.5 years but at the same time my legs completely changed, and no longer respond to exercise. They have taken on a life of their own. And the lumps and fat actually hurt. After being told for years they were benign and nothing to worry about, I finally discovered lipedema in google. Finally an explanation. I'm waiting for an appointment for a dx but want to start right away on getting this under control. Looks like I'll be getting back to full time SCD diet but will make sure I include some of the foods and ideas in this book.

One of the Best for Information
There's barely a blank space in my book for all the notes I've penned. The way this book is written encourages you to do additional research and application, though finding others of such high caliber difficult. Too many reaching beyond their expertise (background or knowledge).

Probably good to have a really good knowledge of biology in or to be able to understand this
Nice that there’s a book for an under diagnosed condition. Not easy reading. Couldn’t get past the 1st chapter. I loaned it out to drs that I wanted to educate and they didn’t seem to have a problem nor were they interested

Very informative.
This book explaines this disease. It has helped me understand and navigate to keep it under control. What, how to eat, fasting and how my body reacts to food. A good book to have.

It’s a good starting point, but not an exhaustive or definitive guide
I bought this book with the expectation that it would define the best foods and way of eating to manage & improve lymphedema and lipedema. It does offer a lot of useful suggestions, but there’s still a lot of room for interpretation and personal trial-and-error to know exactly what’s best for you. I’m glad I bought it, but I am a little disappointed that some of the suggestions conflict with other research and reading I’ve done as to what’s good for you and what is not. The section I found most interesting was Ch. 2, Physiology and Food Choices, which goes into detail about how certain macronutrients (e.g. fats) are broken down and processed in the body. If you’re starting from scratch, this book might provide a nice starting point to formulate an eating plan and research some supplements. If you’ve already done a lot of research and have a well-defined way of eating to manage lymphedema and/or lipedema, it probably won’t tell you anything you didn’t already know. The main advice would benefit anyone: cut down on sugar, wheat, and simple starches. From there, two different options are presented: a plant-based diet with low-meat emphasis or a high-fat diet with low-carb emphasis. The book pushes the plant-based lifestyle but does discuss keto a few times. (If you’re a staunch keto advocate, you might disagree with some of the advice here and there). It did give me some motivation to try some new foods and do more research. Overall, if you have the time to read it you’ll probably find a few nuggets of helpful info.

Outstanding Guide to understanding Lymphedema and what to eat and what not to eat!
I mentioned this book to my Vascular Surgeon who treats me for Lymphedema these past 8 years - and he said this was a great book. I learned about it though from a Group on Facebook which is all about this terrible incurable result of damaged lymph drainage system in the human body brought on by many different types of causes. One thing this book taught me right away is that a gluten free diet will REALLY help and I am now starting mine. This one thing alone if it was all this book had to recommend it would be great, but it also tells you all about the most modern understanding of it (as of 2016), and teaches you about what to do to help yourself in it, as well as recipes, food choices, etc. Great Book and I HIGHLY Recommend it.
