If you don't have a Dell board and power supply, this cable choice likely will not work for you
In a nut shell here it is: If you have a Dell unit you're good because this is proprietary and not a universal cable. I tried it with my Intel board & it didn't work. I hadn't anticipated that Dell would use their own specific design for a simple cable, but, yes they do........

Excellent solution for old Dell desktops
Short: It works perfectly in an old Dell Dimension 4100. Upgraded PSU from stock 200W to aftermarket 350W easily.I have an old Dimension 4100 (PIII socket 370, 200W Dell branded power supply) that I've been messing around with in order to complete a retro build. I did not realize that back then Dell used an additional 6 pin connector for the motherboard until I tried to swap in a 300W aftermarket PSU. After ordering a different adapter here on amazon that did not work (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001I3SM1C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) I stumbled upon this one. I figured why not, I've already spent too much on this build I'll just go for it. It arrived quickly and I immediately swapped it in and bam, the Beige Express powered on like it was brand new. Now I have a big enough PSU to run the 6800GT AGP card I'm putting in just to see how many newer games will run on this bad boy.

Doesn't work with Dell Dimension 4100
Despite claiming to be compatible, this cable does not work with the Dell Dimension 4100. I tried it out with two known working desktops, and two different known working ATX PSUs. (the original PSUs still function but are 20+ years old and shouldn't be trusted) The desktops would boot with their original PSUs, no adapter needed, but refused to boot with newer, safer PSUs with this adapter. It could be that I just received a faulty cable and most of them do work, but the seller didn't respond to my contact attempt, so I have to assume the cables just aren't compatible. Going to try for a refund and hopefully find another seller making a similar adapter.

Works like it should
This does exactly what it is supposed to do, which allows us to rescue our old Dell motherboards when the power supply goes out. We can use a standard ATX PS and this adapter, instead of having to find a Dell proprietary PS.

Works on Dell XPS T700r
Just on a hunch got this for a old Dell XPS T700r motherboard, and I was pleasantly surprised it fit. I was confused by the labeling because it said P10 on this and on the original psu plug it said P7 but they look identical when comparing pictures. This product saved the day, I'm one step closer to completing my retro Windows 98SE machine!
