WOW....So glad I bought this cookbook
I follow several Paleo foodie bloggers, which is how I came across the awesome cover shot of this book. I was immediately drawn to the image, and wanted to know more about the book. I was even more amazed at the then-17 author's journey, photography, and cooking skills. I really wanted this book, so I decided when I could splurge a little on myself (just in time for starting my Paleo eating over after a few months of eating poorly), I would show Josh some love and buy his book for inspiration.I got it yesterday, and I was so, so, so impressed! I loved how he explained Paleo and also what worked for him in his path to healthy eating for a healthy body. Lots of very good advice and information to begin. Then....the recipes. Very well written, easy to understand and carry out. And unlike a recent Paleo dessert cookbook I read that required this one, very expensive ingredient in EVERY recipe, all of Josh's recipes are accessible to the average cook. He promotes eating real food, and although the best quality is preferred, it won't kill the recipe (and the purchase of the book overall) if you substitute some items (say, a regular cut of beef vs. grain-fed if you can't afford/find it). He explains this all. And the PHOTOS. Each recipe (with the exception of sauces - totally understandable) is paired with beautifully staged shots of mouth watering dishes. My mouth was literally watering after reading the descriptions and ogling the pics. This book is totally worth adding to your kitchen. Notice I didn't say bookshelf. We have all made a cookbook purchase that just wasn't what we hoped it would be. We may have perused the pages and not been really struck to try any of the recipes. And then it just sits and gets the occasional "Oh yeah...I've been meaning to try something outta there". But....we never do. And by "we" I mean me. With "The Slim Palate Cookbook" - the exact opposite. I have already planned on picking up a few things for the recipe for short ribs to make tonight. And the Moroccan Chicken tomorrow. And the Paleo pancakes this weekend.Josh - job VERY well done! I am proud of you, and you have inspired me.

Inspired Me to Write My First Amazon Review Ever!
I have been "practically" Paleo for six months now. I stopped eating processed foods and gluten because I wanted to see if I felt better or would have a reduction in my seasonal (all year long) allergies. My allergies are essentially the same, thank you very much, but, amazingly, I dropped ten pounds the first month. Another five pounds and I will be at my bikini wearing, post-baby weight of 135 pounds -- not thin but certainly not pudgy. (I will skip the bikini, however). So I bought Joshua's book because a) I need to break out of my current grocery list b) those next five pounds would be great!I haven't finished the book yet, but I like the voice he writes in. I like his approach to pale. The Braised Moroccan Chicken with Stuffed Green Olives was delicious. But, drum roll please, the Coconut Breakfast Muffins, were worth the price of the entire book. Basically four ingredients after you grease the ramekin and only two minutes in the microwave (yes, I still use the microwave) and you have the most amazing little vehicle for the nut butters that you love sooooo much.Thank you Joshua. I look forward to trying many more of these great looking recipes. The photography is wonderful.

The Slim Palate Paleo Cookbook
The Slim Palate Paleo Cookbook is a nice collection of paleo recipes that are at once simple and sophisticated. It includes a beautiful picture and description of each recipe. It starts with an intro about the author and his 100 pound weight loss. He then breaks down his ingredients that he uses and why. If you're familiar with the paleo diet then this will be redundant for you, but if you're not, then this is a straight forward explanation of common paleo ingredients. The recipes are broken down into breakfast, poultry, meat, seafood, soups and stews, vegetables, desserts and sweets, sauces, dressings and dips. If this was the only paleo cookbook you had you would be hard pressed to get bored. I especially love the breakfast, poultry, meat and vegetables sections. I definitely recommend this cookbook if you're looking for a collection of simple, tasty and satisfying paleo recipes.

Wise beyond his years
I accidentally ordered this book twice, somehow. No worries, I am not returning the second copy. I will be giving it to someone I love. Trying to decide who that lucky person is, was the hardest thing about this book. But my lucky and awesome sister will love it!The recipes are straightforward, and easy to follow, yet create masterpieces your family will love. My picky eater, who has decided she no longer likes eggs has fallen ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE with the Egg Drop Soup. The mayonnaise was easy to make, and a hit with our soy-free, rancid-vegetable-oil-free family. And the freezer fudge? YUM! One tiny bite starts your taste buds doing a happy dance, and BONUS - it's actually good for you!The photography is stunning. Seriously. When I opened the book and showed my husband the pictures, he stated simply, "YES, PLEASE!"The writing is beautiful, and the nutritional science is sound. These are recipes you will use over and over, in your journey to optimal health and dietary pleasure. I can't wait to work my way through every single recipe, again an again.
