it was pretty straight forward
After reading some of the reviews I was concerned this might be clunky to program. Turns out, it was pretty straight forward. I did need to glance at the manual to get the basic idea. I set up one cycle that occurs every day for a specific interval and then had another that only occurs once a week. And despite being a low cost item, it seems fairly robust. While unboxxing, it slipped from my hands and as I tried to grab it actually slammed it straight into our wood floors. No damage. Display contrast is poor but this is a set and forget device for me. A blue led highlights on the front of device below the key pad to indicate when the switch is closed (energized).

Cannot set days differently
I'm a Ham Radio Operator and have been using computers for decades. I cannot program this device to turn on and off M-F differently than on SA and SU. No matter what I do, one on and off setting for one day makes EVERY other day the same as that one. I want to simply have it turn ON at 11:00 am and OFF at 4:00 pm on Tues through Sat. Then have it stay off (on 11 am / off 11 am) on Sunday and Monday. I've fiddled with this thing and read, and re-read, the poor instructions over and over. It seems hopeless. If this timer can be set to turn on and off at different times for each week day, and someone knows how to help me set it for that..... PLEASE let me know. bingoldsby@gmail.comThe unit seems sound otherwise - but is completely useless if programming cannot be made as described above.

Programming Tricky but Ultimately Do-Able
My mechanical lamp timers made irritating noise, so I opted for digital instead. First I ordered a pair of Enover timers, but one was defective so both had to go back. I then ordered two separate i-Mate timers, which appear to be identical except for the name. Both work, but the instructions are not well-written--it's like they were in a different language and translated by Google Translate. Because I was used to the Enover instructions, I was able to program these.A couple of things to consider: I like the design of this timer (and Enover) because of the front outlet, which works better in my house than outlets on the side. When you program them, be sure to start with the time, 24-hour vs. AM/PM, and daylight savings time as applicable. You have the option of doing all days of the week the same or doing each day individually (which takes more time). Remember that whichever way you program it, you have to program the day or days for "ON" and you also have to program the day or days for "OFF."Aside from that, if you use this in a wall outlet by the floor, you have to get down on your hands and knees, probably with a flashlight, to make sure it's on "ON," "AUTO," or "OFF."

Bad product - keep looking
the timer will not remain set to the current day. the instructions are really bad. perhaps it is defective? More likely - its just a bad product and I should have read ALL the reviews before purchasing.

the interface is unnecessarily complicated for what it does
I was able to program it to do what I wanted, unlike some reviewers. Yes, the interface is unnecessarily complicated for what it does.It lasted just barely a year before it stopped working. Now it makes a buzzing sound whenever it's plugged in, and no device plugged into it ever gets any current, even when it's set to "ON."

Nice product.
This replaced a Woods timer. It has a very easy to read display with large characters. Simple to program especially compared to the Woods. LED turns on when program is active which is a nice feature.Would be nicer if the design of the timer didn't consume an entire outlet (rounded bottom of unit prevents use of bottom plug on an outlet.)No problems and the packaging was very simple.
