** UPDATE ** OCTOBER 10, 2019 **Once again, I have received COUNTERFEIT Books!!!I was Hopeful that these would be the REAL Books that are made by M&N Designs....This Counterfeit Seller / Store even left in the WARNING from M&N about ONLY USING M&N AS SELLER!!These FAKE Copies of the Real Journals from M&N are Not Terrible...These ones I received are refillable... The Paper is Decent...BUT, They Smell Bad! I'm 99.9% Sure that these are NOT TRUE LEATHER.They Smell Bad because they are made from "PU Composite Leather" (Definition Below)PU LEATHER: "Composite Leather" is made using an industrial process using leftover leather shavings and dust as binder and Polyurethane (PU) as the filler. It is coated with an acrylic layer and then heat embossed with a fake pattern to give it an appearance of real leather markings.* The fact that it has Real Leather Dust (Particles) as an Ingredient allows Sellers to Stretch the Truth by just labeling a product as "Leather" instead of the True Name "PU Leather"* Think of PU LEATHER as Leathers Version of Particle Board (Wood Chips or Dust Mixed with a Binding agent and pressed into Sheets of Board)Comparing these FAKE Leather Journals to the Real thing is like Comparing a Mercedes Benz to a Plastic Car!Take a Look at the Pictures I Posted of the REAL Leather Journals.There is a Stamp for M&N Designs on the Inside of the Back of the Leather Cover.The REAL M&N Designs Made Leather Journals are made from Thick, Real Leather and they have that Wonderful Leather Smell that Leather Afficionados LOVE!!!I'm sending 5hese Fake Ones Back for Full Refund.I'd Give these Counterfeit "Leather" Journals a 2 Star Rating due to FALSE ADVERTISING, Mediocre Craftsmanship, and Bad Smell! ** Only the Low Price allows me to give them 2 stars!*****************************************************************************************************************☆☆ Some are Re-fillable, Some are Not ☆☆I Buy a LOT of things from Amazon Every Week... But, these Books are Way too Beautiful for me not to say anything!!I am an Artist & I Love Collecting Leather Sketch Journals and other Really Nice Faux Leather / Suede Sketchbooks!I ordered 2 of these Owl Embossed Leather Sketch Journals earlier this week and Received them Yesterday...I was Immediately Impressed with the Quality of these Blank ( Unlined ) Paper Leather Journals!!The Leather is VERY Nice and has that Awesome New Leather Snell. The Quality of the Embossing is Exquisite!! The Owls on the Front and the Borders around the Edge are Gorgeous!The Back side is Equally Beautiful, with a Really Nice Mandala in the Middle, Surrounded by a Great Border and other Smaller sized Flower designs!! The Pictures on Amazon can't Really show how Beautiful these Books are!☆ I had to turn them in the Light in order to see some of the Very Fine Embossing, like the Middle of the Mandala in the Back!The Paper is also Very Nice... a Tiny bit Rustic because I think it is Hand-made Paper, but it is very Smooth and Consistent. I have Purchased other Leather Journals from Amazon that have had Terrible Hand-made Paper that was thick and thin is certain places and had large Wrinkles or something similar to Strings inside the paper... These other books are Practically Unusable, as the Paper is of such Poor Quality.That is Not the case with these Journals. The Paper is well made and Smooth, so I think that it will work quite well for Sketching or Drawing with Pencils, and using Colored Pencils or Pens.All in All, These Leather Owl Journals are a Great Product at an Amazing Price!!As soon as I opened them up Yesterday to inspect them, after about 10 - 15 minutes of Looking at ALL the Features of these books, I Ordered another 3 of them!! ;D☆ Tested Colored Pencils, Lead Pencils, Uniball Vision Elite Pens & Papermate InkJoy Colored Pens. All of them worked Great! ☆☆☆☆ July 11, 2017 Update.... D; ☆☆☆The 3 New Journals that I Ordered arrived today...☆ They were So DIFFERENT from the First 2 I ordered, that they might have been Counterfeit!1) They were NOT Refillable. Instead of the Side sewn Inner Pockets that would allow a person to Replace the Paper..., The Paper inside was Glued Directly onto the Leather Cover. There were No Side Pockets under there either, as if the Assembler might have accidentally Glued the Paper over the pockets.☆( Check my Last 2 Pictures to see the Pockets on Both Insides of the Cover. The Pockets allow you to Replace *Refill the Paper)☆2) The Leather Embossing was much Lighter3) The Leather had a Smell that was not as Pleasant as the First 2 Journals I had purchased.4) The Quality of Craftsmanship was not so good either. Looking down the inside of the Spine I could see that the Paper Booklets did not all line up against the back. This caused the journals to not be Straight & Even.☆ I am Taking away 1 Star from my Initial Review because of these things...I started the Return & Refund Process with Amazon to Return these 3 New Journals...☆☆☆ The Sale Page For These say "REFILLABLE" at Least 3 Times.... Including the Title at the Very Top!! ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ UPDATE AUGUST 2017 ☆☆☆☆After doing some Investigating, and Talking to the REAL Manufacturer, M&N Designs, I found out that the ones that are NOT REFILLABLE ( Don't have Inside Pockets to Replace Paper )...I have found out that someone has mixed in their COUNTERFEIT version of these with the REAL Journals!!The 3 that I received that were NOT Refillable and were of Lower Quality, were actually sent to me by a Seller called:" Super India Store "....First I got 2, Loved them, went into my Orders section of my account, Found the Journals, Clicked on the Journal Link, and then ordered 3 more...The Point of this Rambling is that even though I used the Exact Same Link to order More Jounals, Somehow SUPER INDIA STORE got involved and sent me the "Knock-offs" AKA Counterfeit Journals.Apparently this is a HUGE PROBLEM World-Wide... CHINA Especially is Counterfeoting EVERYTHING!! Even Tide Laundry Soap! I saw on the News a few days ago, that the Problem is so BAD, that some of the BIG Brands are Pulling their Stuff off of Amazon!!Anyways... I sent the bad ones back for a Full Refund, and Ordered 3 more. This time, they were the REAL Deal, so I have Put back the Star that I took away....Full 5 Stars for these Beautiful, Quality Journals!! ☆☆ From M&N Designs!!! ☆☆Thanks! 😁💖😉

Super cute little book. Got it as a guest book for our family cottage so everyone who visits can write a little note. We have an owl theme there so this fit right in. I was surprised that the backside of the book had a mandala design embossed on it. Since the pages are blank, it could be used with either design as the front cover, but I got it for the owls. My only complaint is that it smelled horrible when it arrived. It definitely needs a little time to air out. But other than that it's perfect!

This journal is a very nice gift and looks a lot more expensive than it is. It will be a treasure forever.

Beautiful handmade item, my other half loved it great for it’s listed use as a journal or as a artist sketch pad. The pad inside the leather cover is replaceable too meaning that you can get years of usage out of it and the with the cover being of natural leather the natural aging process will add further character to the item.

I like things to do with owls! I will be using it to record memories, meaningful quotes, ideas and pictures, collected items, drawings and photos in retirement.

Paper quality very poor for an expensive note pad.
