Fun build, not too difficult, has a lot of character once completed.
I built this robot with my seven-year-old son. He could follow the physical build and, with a little prompting could also follow the computer side, which uses Arduino IDE.The Ant looks great and has a face with expressions or an optional ultrasonic sensor head.Arduino is a little bit easier than raspberry pi which many other kits use.

Easy build with unique movement
The media could not be loaded. This is my fourth kit from Freenove.I was intrigued by the unique movement mechanism of the ant robot and the opportunity to explore an Arduino compatible board. Not having tried any other brands, I can't compare, but I do know that Freenove produce well-made and designed kits and provide awesome after sales support, which makes them an easy choice. This kit took around a couple of hours to put together. The instructions were easy to follow. Although a couple of screwdrivers and a spanner are supplied, I found I needed a larger screwdriver to tighten the nyloc nuts holding the servos.Unfortunately, the display module had its pins connected incorrectly, but a quick email to support and a replacement is on its way, so I'm not going to dock a star for that. However, that means I can only use the ultrasonic head at present.Once built, the ant can be controlled directly from the supplied ir remote (as long as you aim it carefully!) or from the Freenove smartphone app. It's another winner as far as I'm concerned and I'm looking forward to tinkering with the open source code. I also have plans for a head of my own design. Freenove happily supplied me with stl files for the 2 heads supplied as a starting point.I would recommend the Freenove Robot User group on Facebook facebook.com/groups/333208747878884 which is a recently formed group for Freenove robot owners with the intention of sharing tips, mods and code. There are also suggestions there on where to find decent 18650 batteries in the UK without paying through the nose.

Had a lot fun building this, need a laptop or computer to programme the instructions . We'll worth it
