It fits our 1979 Airstream door!
Fits perfectly. The lock mechanism was missing on our 1979 Airstream door, which meant that it could not be locked from the inside. There was a metal post with a flat side, which had the words lock beside it. I though this red knob might fit. Because someone else included a photo of the back side of the red knob, it appeared that the knob would fit and work on our door. It came in the mail today and works perfectly. We will now feel more secure at night when sleeping in our Airstream.

The lock is bright red worked great on my 2000 fleetwood motor home with pull up handle

Plastic junk is plastic
I don't know why it is so hard to find hardware that is metal. This plastic garbage does not work. It fits, but if you get any resistance at all, it just starts sliding on the connection point.
