I've used many grinders over the years, and these take the cake. The pepper grinder will make your pepper as coarse as you like it. The salt mill is equally well built and designed, but you have to grind a lot of salt to get your food to taste. For the pair I give five stars.

Does not grind salt pieces well!, tends to dribble no matter how tight or loose I have the top. Quite disappointed. Not nearly as good as the original pepper mill! Terrible - The company would not accept a return - total waste of money! Back to the salt shaker!

I am not understanding all of the negative reviews. First, let me say that I didn't buy mine online. I am also a very frugal person. This was a rare purchase for me. A friend had given me a gift card to one of the high end kitchenware stores. I had already decided to treat myself to something I wouldn't normally buy. I saw the Peugeot salt and pepper mills. Beautiful! I thought the cost was enormously expensive for simple grinding mills but they appeared to be well made. Ten years later they still look amazing. I particularly love the adjustable grind. Simply tighten or loosen the top ball to adjust from a super fine grind (great for popcorn) to a course grind perfect for salads or marinades. I absolutely love them! I wish more companies put such fine craftsmanship and material into their products. As to the comments of not working well in humid environments, I found an easy fix for that. I have a kitchen with no venting. These mills sit right next to the stove. I did initially have problems with the humidity getting to the salt. That's not the mills' fault. Salt attracts humidity. It was a simple fix. I happen to save all of the little silica packets that come in aspirin and vitamin bottles. I expect to get some negative comments for suggesting the following. I placed a small silica packet in my salt shaker. Note that silica itself is not harmful. The packet itself is a choking hazard. No dangers of choking on a salt mill. Moving on, the design of the grinder prevents the packet from touching the actual grinding mechanism. I have since had no problem with humidity or function and to this day there is absolutely no rust or splitting of either mill. They still work like new and are as beautiful as the day I bought them. Minor chipping is on the bottom, but again, this is 10 years later. It's nothing a little touch up paint couldn't fix. I absolutely love them.

My parents have had a really wonderful pepper mill for almost 40 years and when I went to find a similar one I couldn't, but I found that the grinding mechanism was a Peugeot, so I went for this salt grinder and its matching mill. I haven't been disappointed at all; they look great and are very reliable. They have a nice clean modern aesthetic, but are easy to use (I have not found the mills hard to control for coarseness at all, you can tighten or loosen the screw that holds the top on to adjust the grind). The salt does need to be fairly course to begin with, but I don't think that any real salt mills work with Kosher salt. I use it all the time in the kitchen and on the table so much that I can hardly remember life without it.

Wonderful grinder which you must be cautious with as the salt flies freely. Feels solid and has a well made adjustment system.

Bought both the salt and pepper grinder. Thought they would work nicely for what they cost. Haven’t used them for a month because after just a few weeks they stopped working.

love these beautiful mills but the wood split and warped a few weeks after I started using them. The return was very easy, I hope the replacements don't have the same issue
