PolarPro Macro Lens for GoPro Hero6 / Hero5 Black

After I bought this filter and try to install in my go pro camera, I made a basic mistake and pressed the filter too far in on the GoPro lense causing the glass portion of the filter to pop out. Try to use super glue and the gases emitted by the glue damaged the glass surface of the filter. Frustrated I contacted Polar Pro customer services and to my surprise I was answered immediately (it was a Sunday afternoon), Polar Pro (Jeff) replaced my filter and sent me an extra set of ND filters that are also amazing and the results with the PL are awesome.Thank you Polar Pro for being behind your product and making a frustrated experience the best outcome ever.

Picture quality was good however the lens came off and was lost

I primarily use my Hero 5 as a dash cam to create California road trip videos for youtube and for facebook. The windshield glare on the Hero 5 dash cam video was significantly degrading the quality of the video. The Polar Pro polarizing filter video immediately and significantly reduced the windshield glare in the dash cam video. I don't know how much physical abuse the filter can tolerate. My Hero 5 sits safely on my car dash when I am using it. I decided that this polarizing filter is so indispensable that I ordered a second one as a spare, in case I damage or lose the first one. The quality of the materials and construction appear adequate to me. It is a good value for $29. I actually looked for other options after I read some reviews that stated that the Polar Pro is too fragile. I could not find a glass polarizing filter that was better than this one.

In spite of mixed reviews, and a feeling that it wasn't going to be a "real" polarizing filter, I ordered this. It arrived yesterday. I tried to install it onto my GoPro by simply popping it onto the lens of my Hero 5 Black. The lens on the filter popped off. I cleaned my finger prints off of it with a micro cloth and attempted to pop the lens back onto the filter housing and the lens shattered. A real quality item.

This is a small glass lens in a somewhat rubberized plastic housing that slips onto the GoPro 5 and 6 lens. It fits well but could come off if jarred or bumped. I have not field used it yet since the weather in the frigid north is still unpleasant. I have, however, done table tests and it seems surprisingly sharp and gets the GoPro focus down to just under 4 inches (it is 12 inches without). My main reason to purchase it was for some closeup work underwater with a GoPro. The lens does not seal well enough to keep water out between the lens and the GP. However, filled with water between did not seem to affect anything during bucket tests. If you want air between, I wrapped the GP lens housing with two wraps around the lens with teflon tape used by plumbers and slid the lens on. That worked, as does a seal with petroleum jelly or a squeezable white petroleum lip balm.

Product works great! I did read the many reviews on this and am quite happy so far.Below is a pic taken by the PolarPro macro lens for my Gopro Hero5. Tip: keep it to 1920x1080 video, Linear for nice crisp non distorted video or pic. use the Included Tether to attach lens to camera.It might to fall off if you don't. This is more for hand held macro, not for bumpy rough skateboard or motor bike terrain.( unless u super glue it on). I LIKE that it pops on /off the lens easy so can switch between macro and normal very fast, when out doors, in forest, botanical gardens, or a photogenic spider / insect decides to strike a pose for you. :DI also like that its not necessary to screw, clamp, or remove the actual Gopro lens. Filters are a must for getting quality footage. When I received these I was excited because they come in a very professional looking case. I installed the polarized filter and it fit fairly snug. Coming off you have to be careful not to pull off your gopro lens. When I put on the gradient filter the glass of the filter fell right off. I am not happy with that. I looked more closely at the polarized filter and I see also that one is half way dislodged also. Paying $50 bucks for filters I was hoping for much higher quality. There isn't much to choose from yet for hero 5 filters, but I do not recommend getting these. I'm going to try and glue the glass back on or maybe even return them i'm not too sure.

Filter function wise this does excellent, however the build quality was questionable at first. I pushed filter over, it is a snug fit but the lenses almost popped out. It is good now, worried me in the beginning.

While the product took more than expected time to get delivered, the product is top notch and does a great job in transforming gopro footage from normal to cinematic. Best choice.

It's a nice piece of kit. Sadly, I dropped my Go Pro while I had this lens on, and the lens smashed. However, I was happy with it until that point!
