Which cable? this one for SoundStation2 expandable
I had to do a lot of digging when I was looking to buy this Computer Calling Kit from Polycom. There are 2 of them and this is the one for the SoundStation2 expandable. I got mine from AZ Geek Store. The price is a little steep on these, but it isn't just that it has Polycom molded into the cable. I put an ohmmeter on it and there is a bit more going on internally than you would think (I wasn't getting a clean uncomplicated pin to pin). The other part is that the 2.5mm jack on the SoundStation2 is recessed, and too many 2.5mm plugs have way too much excess material around them that would prevent them from being properly seated in the jack on your SoundStation2.Creating cables to attach the SoundStation2 expandable to a cell phone (as a headset) is a bit more straightforward after you find the right connectors and pinout. You will need to make two of them to cover most phones that have 3.5mm jacks. One covers the iPhone (and a variety of others, including some HTCs as I recall), the other variation covers most of the rest. You would think that you could divide between iPhone and Android, but you would be wrong, and some manufacturers can't even be consistent, varying from model to model. The difference is swapping the microphone and ground connectors and there is no possibility of creating a universal cable (that isn't a multi-headed monstrosity). The following is excerpted from a PDF I found on Polycom's website. Two versions of the Computer Calling Kit are available - each is tuned for specific conference phone models:2200-17240-002 is included with the SoundStation2 and VoiceStation 500, and can also be used with the SoundStation with display model and the SoundStation IP 70002200-07878-001 is included with the SoundStation2W EX, and can also be used with the SoundStation2W BasicCable is included with the SoundStation2WTM EX and VoiceStation® 500. Also compatible with the SoundStation® IP 7000 and SoundStation2TM (with display and EX models only, not compatible with SoundStation2 no display model)

Finally! The right cable!
After purchasing the Polycom SoundStation 2 (Non Expandable) (2200-16000-001), I purchased the Computer Calling Kit from another vendor that Polycom linked to, that appeared to be the correct cable. Unknown to me at the time, was that there are TWO calling kits - each for different phone models (see [...]).The cable that almost everyone is selling, on Amazon and elsewhere, is the 2200-07878-001 (labeled 2457-17240-001), and it DOES NOT WORK with the SoundStation2 (see [...]).I was about to give up and return the phone to purchase an inferior model that comes with the computer calling kit bundled, when I finally found this item. Though the cables look exactly the same externally, once I plugged it into my SoundStation2, I was finally able to use it as both speaker AND microphone for Skype calling.THANK YOU! I have no idea why nobody else sells this cable, but you've saved me by having it!

Speeds Up the Dial In Process
This is a great alternative to dial-in numbers, conference PINs, etc. - I can use any meeting platform I want and connect my laptop directly to the Polycom phone in our conference room. While it does feel a bit high-priced, it works well so I cannot complain too much.If your laptop has a combined headphone/microphone jack, fear not! You can use something like this DuKabel Headsets Splitter Adapter, 3.5mm Jack Separate Headphone & Mic Plug Adapter 3.5mm Combo Audio Adapter Cable to combine the headphone and microphone cables into the combined 3.5mm jack.

It works fine, but needs an additional cable to connect to a cell phone
It worked just fine, but I did have to add an additional cable to link this to my iPhone 5s; this has two female receptacles one for the mic, the other for audio, so the other cable is needed to combine these ends into one male plug to insert into the phone.
