Q: Does it work on cardboard tubes?

My experience was it was good for plastic tubes. But absolutely did not work on paper tubes. Would not recommend if using any type of tube other that plastic. Hope this helps!!!

After working with this for a while now I have pretty much fixed this issue. It's an extra step but works for me. I've found out the tubes are just too smooth and the rubbers don't have anything to grip to pull it thru. So to fix this I just laid two strips of duct tape vertically down either side of the caulk tube. The strips of duct tape now help the gu. To grip the tube. AND NOW it stops the flow and pushes the caulk out with zero effort! I sure hope this helps others and also gets the manufacturers attention as well.

Q: SInce it looks like it slices the tube, can you save a partial used tube? Will it still be sealed at the back end?

Same thing happened to me, but after 2 tubes. Save your money.

Q: Does this have the thin metal seal punch some caulk guns have?

Yes, it has a separate piece of wire that is stored in the handle. that you can take out and use to open the seal on the caulking tubes. It works okay, but seemed a bit fiddly to get out and put back into the handle, so it was easier for me to just use the heavier punch on my old standard caulk gun.

The MOST valuable tool in my kit

I saw a video demonstration of this caulking gun and thought I'd give it a try. It was SO much better than the full size guns, gets you into tight spaces with ease and the results are perfection! Our contractor was so impressed by my caulking results, he ordered one too! Highly recommend

Its not for contractors

This product has potential but is a homeowner's toy as of now. Its design doesn't have the strength to push out a smooth bead of silicone or latex caulking. Hand fatigue fighting it was exhausting and the cheap plastics its built with break easily. In my opinion, it is a use once per year gimmick by an un-handy homeowner....and it drips.

Holy crap it works well

Was a little apprehensive on buying it but it works extremely well. Just need to go easy because it's all plastic

Nice to have for home use, definitely not for a tradesman.

In summery, I love it! But it is not built to last unless you really take care of it. You can feel how any wrong move could break it rendering it useless. Not all tubes will work on it either! The Star deducted is for what’s said above and its price tag.
