This will allow the fuel to flow into the torch. Do this for 5 seconds or so. There is no need to pump the fuel canister while fueling. 3) Once you have refilled your butane torch, let it sit a few minutes until the fuel reaches room temperature. Because the butane fuel is compressed in the fuel container is will be colder than room temperature. When it warms, the fuel will expand. 4) If your torch will not light, find the flame adjustment knob on bottom and turn a 1/4 turn, then attempt once more. Keep re-adjusting knob in 1/4 turn increments until the torch ignites.

Yes, the butane is NOT contained inside the torch. But you can easily find proper and universal butane for lighter/kitchen torch via Amazon, for example, Zippo butane fuel or 135ml Ronson lighter butane. Be sure to select the long-nozzle, instead of short one.
