Lumie Bodyclock Luxe 700 - Wake-up Light with Bluetooth Audio and Low-Blue Sleep Light

I wanted a body clock to improve sleep and to lift my mood during the winter months. I already have an SAD light which I use in the morning and am absolutely happy with it. I assumed the Lumie body clock would support ths by giving me a gentle bright wake up in the morning and lets me slip into sleep at night. And wow, I m glad I bought it. It is a pleasure to wake up at the set time with light. I don t even use the sound so huby and dog wouldn t wake up. No hammering alam sound, no getting a fright when the alarm goes off....just a gentle waking, slowly and really nice. At night I start the sunset with the brightest light(I chose the low blue light setting) and while I m reading a few pages the Lumie sun is slowly setting. I watch the colour turning from orange to red and....off I am. I am very happy with my purchase. The clock is easy to set. The first time I followed the manual and everything was set up in a few minutes. IT IS NOT DIFFICULT. There are so many different options to chose from that there is something for everyone. I don t use BT in the bedroom at all but tried it and it works a treat. I can charge my phone with this Lumie via USB and can listen to my playlist. The display is dimmable and good to see. At night just turn the knob and you have a night light. Just amazingly nice everything about this Lumie. Oh, and it is made from great material, very sturdy and looks great. Highly recommended

Lovely Lumie lightLovely Lumie lightI absolutely love this clock which I got to help me wake for work in the mornings. The light is perfect starting from the faintest red light and imperceptibly getting brighter as it changes towards whiter tones but never becoming harsh. I wake feeling so much better. I set the light to start brightening 30 minutes before the time I want to wake, if you want to you can vary this and you can also vary the intensity of the light. It comes with such a brilliant variety of sounds which you can set to come on at the alarm time, I’ve only tried a few of the birdsong ones so far and the recordings are crystal clear, but there are lots ranging from sitar to fairground music. The other feature I’ve used is Bluetooth streaming – superb sound quality! There are in fact lots of features on this product, not including radio I see though the manual says this can be streamed from the Bluetooth, it has a USB port to listen to your own sounds and an aux facility, neither of which I’ve tried yet. It comes with detailed instructions which I did dip into but actually found it easy to operate using the two dials and smaller buttons. The display can be made to dim to the level you want at night using one of the dials, or can be set to dim with the sunset which I’ve yet to use. There’s also a “low-blue light” setting – the idea is that this cuts out alerting blue light so you can get to sleep more easily – you can switch to this in the evening before bed by pressing the left dial, I’ve tried this and find the light soothing and enough to read by. Build quality is good, it has a nice tactile feel with the smooth glass globe. Recommended.

PLUS POINTS:+ sunrise / set effect with customisable sounds excellent;+ lamp used is really diffuse and looks like a sun;+ alarm setting a doddle - as a shift worker, I like the ability to set the alarm differently for each day of the week IN ADVANCE;+ clock is dimmable to complete “off” and dims automatically with the sunset feature;+ I like the colour temperature settingMINUS POINTS:- lamp switches off unexpectedly when I’m not ready for it to do this. To prevent this could the design team incorporate a motion detector in the next version?;- manual is sketchy in places - had to find out things myself.Otherwise a fine piece of engineering well worth the money!

Pros:* the light is bright and nice, not too artificial* so far (few days used), it really does wake me up better and more smoothly, quite a surprise actually!* nice selection of sounds... I much rather hear bird song as a backup-alarm than some beeping (that was one of the main reasons why I picked this device instead cheaper version)* lots of features/flexibility, the "bluetooth speaker" functionality is actually quite goodCons:* expensive* it looks a bit odd* usability: the menu and interface/usability is actually quite good and I like the that there are physical buttons, but the buttons are a bit hard to press, so if not careful, I would push the device off the table.. also I can't find a easy way to end the sunset featureI would say 4.6 stars but I'll give 0.4 stars as a credit :)

The sunset effect worked a treat for getting me to sleep. The colours were nice. A longer sunrise and sunset time would have been appreciated. It wasn't really bright enough in the morning. The reason I sent it back and have gone for the Philips hue lighting instead is that the light turns itself off when it reaches maximal brightness in the morning. I need a light that stays on. Snooze for 5 mins and your back in pitch blackness.

This is a well made products and has some neat functions but I found it fiddly to control and get used to the menu system. No facility to set 2 alarms for the same day. The speaker gives good sound but it doesn’t have a fm radio. And as for using a usb stick to give u only 5 tracks is just silly.

I was really struggling getting up in the morning as it was getting into winter and it was pitch black outside. They light is very bright and wakes me up without even needing an alarm (although I still set several as backups). The selection of noises is great and mostly relaxing. I use the sunset function every night and wake up every morning to the sunrise function. An easy alarm clock to use and I like the Bluetooth function as I can play my music or podcasts through it while getting ready for work in the morning. An expensive alarm clock but worth it.
