They are indeed closer to "daylight" than the EcoSmart 4000K bulbs I had been using from Home Depot, but I don't have the equipment to actually verify the color temperature or brightness. The bulbs go to half brightness and then what appears to be full brightness in less than a second, so it should be fast enough for you unless you need a truly instant-on bulb. Keep in mind that all CFLs can take 10-15 minutes to fully warm up and get to the rated brightness. But like I said, the bulbs subjectively appear to be fully bright within 1 second, any increases after that are small and beyond my ability to notice.

Like the Whiteness of the Light
This bulb produces a light that is very white (high color temperature). You may or may not like this. I certainly do as it seems closer to natural daylight. I prefer it to the somewhat yellow color of incandescent light bulbs and most CFL bulbs. We have two lamps on the outside of are garage that light the driveway and front of the house. We're using these bulbs in each of the lamps. The extra whiteness seems to make everything much more visable. The lamps are run all evening and being outdoors are subject to temperatures that can get a little below freezing. So far, they've worked fine. We've only been using the bulbs a couple of months so I can't comment on their reliability. As the saying goes, so far so good.

Excited!
I have a sump for my reef tank where I have Mangrove and Cheato plant to reduce nitrate for the tank. I have used 2700k CFL 23w to save electricity cost from the power compact 55w, and the plants died off.Finding this light bulb of 6500k, the right frequency for my plants, I am excited. It arrived within a few days and it was very bright compared to my old 55w power compact bulb. All 5 bulbs turned on fine. I am excited to see how long it last (warranty for more than a year)I will post update.

not strong, but are cheap enough to get at least a few
these are not strong enough with just one,so I recommend at least three for a mid size plant.but are at a great price compared to others.put off some heat but are safe ,just make sure they have a little room to avoid fire.happy with overall

We all deserve a good light bulb, methinks.
Man, I gotta say this bulb really makes a dark area less dark, hell it even makes it bright. I gave this to my wife as an anniversary gift and she still uses it in the lamp I gave her on our wedding day. Next anniversary Ima get this lady some electricity.

Died after one month
Bulb worked fine. Put on timer for 6 hours a day and the bulb literally burned out 5 days past the return window. Avoid the bulb. Not worth it.

Love the bright white light
Have a room with all fluorescent tube bulbs. The plug was acting up so started using the overhead socket instead. Tried to use a regular bulb in there and the difference in the color of light was driving me crazy. This bulb produces very white light like the others so has worked out perfectly.

Didn't last long :(
Bought in March 2016 and it burnt out in July 2016. Was great while it lasted though. It kept my house plant alive and happy. Gonna try a different bulb next time but might try this one again.
