Drayton MA1 22mm 3 Port Mid Position Motorised Valve

I am happy to say this item was easy to fit and worked immediately, we had no dramas at all. :)

Replacement for existing unit. Should fit ok

I have had an older version of this valve fitted for years. This went faulty and required a newer version.After fitting it worked perfectly. Then two days later it stopped working.I didn't have time to check it as was away for four days, so house was cold.On return I took the top cover off and found the geared motor unit had fallen off and the screws had come out. Luckily after tightening the screws it is all working again.Repairing new items is not something I should have to do, please check your manufacturing procedures.

This was the cheapest MA1 valve I could find, some places were selling them for over £100 !!!!On my system the actual valve was ok it was just the electrical part that was broken (the grey box), the electric cable came with a plug but my faulty one was wired directly into a distribution box, a tip once you have powered down the system - cut the original wires a couple of inches from the connector block, that way you can connect up each wire one at a time without forgetting which colour goes were!Fixed my heating problem for £46 and 15 minutes of my time......bargain :-)

Purchased this motorised valve to replace an old drayton one so i stuck with the same make to be on the safe side and its all working i can now have hot water without having the heating on the same time as where i couldn't with the old one as it was sticking in one position but its great.

Used one star rating to highlight an issue with the new MA1 I received.Many diy customers must buy this unit as a straight replacement to try and fix an issue with their central heating system. The last thing you expect when buying a new unit is to find out (after some serious head scratching) that the new unit is faulty. This is my experience with a new MA1.My system is a fully pumped vented cyl hw and ch system with the ability to run hw and ch separately. After fitting the new unit I still only had hot water despite the valve moving as expected and the room stat and cyclinder stat calling for heat. Problem diagnosed as a poorly seated circuit board in the new unit, that meant the microswitch was not in contact with the lever cam and hence the unit did not call the boiler.Quite a head scratcher.Watch out for poor packaging and before you fit the unit check that you can hear the microswitch switch when you move the manual lever to the ch position. Once sorted the unit works fine :-)

Well, my son fitted it, and it works fine, we now have our shower and rads. working again.I'm sure someone with a more technical background could be far more specific.As I understand it; this gismo is the thing that controls whether you get hot water,hot radiators, individually or both together. Thats the sum of my knowledge of plumbing folks.It was delivered in time and in pristine condition.
