A kelp supplement excellent in quality, information given and value-for-money
The Kelp Seawood Capsule pack (120 capsules or a 4-month supply) by Sevenhills is resealable, a good feature. However, I thought that it was the “pull open” type as no little scissor icon was shown at the top. After exerting all my little strength, it did not open and I then used scissors to cut the top off leaving no edge beyond the resealable strip. An insignificant detail. The expiry date and batch no is printed on the large sheet of thin paper stuck to the pack itself, the information upon which starts with “Ingredients”. This is better than a separate small peel-off label showing the expiry date as mismatches between the label and the pack are less likely to happen. The provision and manner of provision of this information is reassuring as is the fact that the product has been certified organic by the UK Soil Association. Each capsule has 300mg (milligram) of kelp. This is not to be confused with the recommended daily dose of iodine (which ranges from 150mcg aka 150 μg to 600 mcg aka 600 μg for a severely underactive thyroid) since kelp has not just iodine but is packed with vitamins, minerals, fibre, iron and sodium. Helpfully, Sevenhills has shown the amount of iodine per capsule as 259 μg. Note that Wikipedia in its page called Microgram states that the unit symbol for microgram is μg (which is one-thousandth of a milligram) according to the International System of Units (SI). So, the amount of iodine contained within one Sevenhills capsule is well within safe limits.Since consuming a capsule daily, I have noticed a welcome decrease in morning grogginess and not only an increase in energy but also a more even distribution of this energy during the day.I consider this supplement to be excellent in quality and value-for-money since, as at start Jan 2024, a 4-month supply costs £ 7.99 only. Indeed, where budgets are limited and a choice is to be made between supplement candidates for general use (thus excluding persons seeking to mitigate the effects of a health condition for which kelp is irrelevant or even contra-indicated), this supplement is a serious contender for the championship, as it were. Highly recommended. 5 stars.

Easy-to-swallow daily use kelp capsules with no aftertaste
Kelp is an algae that grows as seaweed and has for a long time been available as a supplement. It is a source of iodine, iron, zinc and numerous vitamins. It is considered to have strong antioxidant qualities and is a desirable addition to anyone’s diet, hopefully promoting good health and longevity. There are not many natural sources of iodine in the western diet. It ends up in cow’s milk due to it being used as a disinfectant, but that’s not exactly natural or a reliable source. Kelp and other algae/seaweeds are a way to get adequate iodine regularly. These kelp capsules from Sevenhills Wholefoods are easy-to-swallow and have no noticeable taste. Just one capsule provides almost double the amount of iodine that is recommended for daily intake, so don’t overdo the dosage! The packaging states that the capsules are suitable for vegans and therefore vegetarians too. However, it does also warn that naturally occurring crustaceans and molluscs may be included! The packaging is recyclable at plastic bag recycling facilities and you can soak the paper labels off first. I’m sure that the size of the packaging could be reduced by 50% in the first place though.

Missing capsules.
The product price is very affordable. It’s good that it’s organic. The capsules are small in size and easy to swallow. However there were only 110 capsules instead of 120. That’s a while 10 capsules missing. Slightly disappointed with this as I’m a regular customer of sevenhills products. Won’t be buying these capsules again, as I don’t trust the correct amount of capsules will be there.
