Q: Do these require a remote to come on? Is there a basic on/off switch, even if it doesn't change the colors? Or is remote required to turn on?

Once they are set to a color or color switching pattern they remember and come on with only the on/off switch or in my case timer control that turns on the power at night. They work great but 2 out of the 4 have already stopped working 4 months after getting them.

Q: Is there a stake available to lift light off the ground?

I have used these with a work light stand from the home improvement store. The holes in the leg portion of the stand don't line up perfectly with the ones in the stand, but it can be made to work. If you don't want to do that, there are alot of other ways you could stake them or lift them up because there are holes in the stand. The easiest way may be to simply use a cheap photography tripod with the appropriately sized scrwe through one of the holes.

Q: does the color display solid? meaning not on a changing or stobe setting? I'm using at church, i want to display 1 color, but also not "blink-out"

Yes they can do solid colors without strobes, fade, or blinking. I would not recommend buying these, all four of mine stopped working within 6 months, first the color I used most stopped working, then a week later it just wouldn't turn on, this happened the same way for all four of the lights.

Q: Can this light be put on a dimmer switch?

You can’t put lights like this on a dimmer switch because, the power supply and the DC LEDs can’t handle it. However, you should be able to dim it with the remote control.
