Nice saffron, but a bit pricey. π
I like saffron. This one comes in a plastic container, which is not great for the price. The saffron is really nice, has a vibrant colour and has a lovely aroma. I use it to make tea, paella and some South Asian dishes. It tastes lovely. You don't need to use much so it should last a long while. The current price is Β£10.99. You can get it cheaper than that in better packaging from other sellers on Amazon.Apart from the price, I am happy with it. π

I Discovered The Benefits Of Saffron
I have always associated the use of saffron with cooking as a spice I used as a colouring but until recently I didn't know of it's other health benefits too. I was being plagued by heavy headaches around March time as well as migraines due to stress and my conventional tablets were not enough. My husband mentioned how good saffron was for health, so I took to the internet to do some research. Being quite skeptical, I read that saffron was indeed good for brain health and with migraines too. It was suggested to just add a couple of strands to food or drink, so I added a couple of strands to my fruit tea of lemon and ginger which I drink every morning. Though more research is needed it is suggested that pigments within saffron of Crocin, crocetin and picrocrocin can help by inhibiting inflammatory pathways, saffron can help reduce the inflammatory component of headaches and migraines. So I added as mentioned above a few strands daily to my morning cuppa, I might add I was still taking my migraine medication too but it wasn't having it's normal effect. It took a few days to work but I actually could feel some benefits and also my brain fog from menopause seemed to get lighter too. It added a slighty spicey but warming taste to my tea and also more of an amber colour. If anything it really did enhance the flavour that I now continue to use when I only drink that tea. I cannot compare to other saffron as it's the first that I tried but it looked to be a good quality with nice long stands. I will say though, the container could be better as the flat thin plastic box is very fragile and splinters easily. I thankfully had a small airtight container to move these too. In March this had a price point of Β£10.99 which I thought a tad expensive especially with seeing similar available on Amazon for a cheaper value but I will continue to use, though maybe not at that price.

Not just for food, but also...........
Adds vibrant color and unique flavor to dishes like paella, risotto, biryanis, and desserts such as saffron-infused ice cream or custards.Used in beverages, including teas, saffron milk, and cocktails.Medicinal Properties: potential health benefits, like improving mood, aiding digestion, and promoting healthy skin.Rich in antioxidants that may help reduce inflammation and support overall wellness.Cosmetic Applications: Incorporated into skincare products for its brightening and anti-aging effects.Saffron has been linked to potential benefits for improving sleep quality. Research suggests that it may help with relaxation and promote better sleep due to its natural compounds which can have calming effects. Here's how saffron could be used for sleep:Saffron Tea: Infuse a few strands of saffron in warm water or herbal tea and drink it before bedtime. This can help relax your mind and body.Saffron Milk: Heat a cup of milk and add a few strands of saffron. Drinking this warm milk at night might promote relaxation and make it easier to fall asleep. While these natural remedies can be soothing, it's worth noting that saffron should be consumed in moderation, as too much can cause side effects. Itβs always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional if in doubt (good luck with that).Saffron's distinctive taste, aroma, and potential benefits make it a prized ingredient.

good way to practice new dishes, but also experience the authentic and traditional flavours
My wife likes cooking and she is trying all the time various recipes and currently she is interested in natural colouring and Spanish dishes and this saffron has given her the chance to experience with authentic spices and the food is a nice, subtle taste and colour with just using few threads of the saffron. The aroma is fragrant and the colour gives subtle orange undertones. She uses it is desserts as well and they not oly taste nice, but also a more appealing profile of the dishes. The threads are easy to use, dissolving them is a little amount of warm water or just infusing the desserts by putting one or two threads. For my wife, this has been not only a good way to practice new dishes, but also experience the authentic and traditional flavours so definitely recommend it.

Transformed my dishes
I tried just few times before cooking with saffron and I liked the flavour that it gives so i decided to give this one a go and I want to mention that is worth using it, especially in paella. At the beginning I thought that 0.5 grams is too small, however I use just few threads per dish and it completely transforms the taste giving it a nice aroma and dishes taste just like I would be somewhere in Spain. It also gives a nice and vibrant golden colour looking professional and appetising. I consider that the threads are high quality and they came in the pack long and unbroken and deeply coloured.

Rich and aromatic
I love Spanish cuisine and with my rice I normally use a little bit of saffron and this one is rich and it gives a nice aroma and taste to my rice. Even though it seems small is it is 0.5 grams, the actual quality is very good with deep red threads and intense aroma. I used it few times now for paella and it has ben surprisingly fragrant and with a nice orange colour. The actual threads dissolve in warm water and release a nice golden colour with rich floral aroma that elevates any of my dishes. I do like how it transforms my dishes visually and from the flavour standpoint and therefore I do recommend it.
