Excellent instrument
A very useful instrument. Realist and accurate. Easy ti install and works pretty good with x-plane. You need a second HDMI port to work with it.

Works great, install is tricky
The 530 works beautifully and really increases the value of sim flyinging at home. Installation is a bit tricky and those who typically ignore instructions will quickly become frustrated. However, if you committ to following every step of the instructions to the letter, everything will work, (even the inverted image that comes up at first!). Read the instructions on the website carefully, download the software plug-in, and off you go!

Works but over priced!
This is not worth the $400 price tag. There is another company that is selling a similar model for $140 less. I would've gotten it from them but unfortunately they were out of stock. Basically it's just a screen with some buttons. It feels so light it makes you wonder if anything is inside. It's made well, but for the price it should've been made with Honeycomb quality material. Also, for the price it should be plug n' play. To use this with MSFS/FSX or P3D you have to download software from two different sites. One being RealSimGear and your choice of Reality XP or two others, I forget the names. And it's not free. You have to pay another $40 bucks for the software from Reality XP. To make matters worse, it doesn't even come with the stand, something you will likely need because the way the wires are situated it makes sitting it on a desk awkward. The stand that should have been included with the GPS will cost you another $50. Fifty dollars just for a stand! It works well with my FSX, but for the price, you shouldn't have to pay extra for software and have to drag and drop the display. At least include the stand! RealSimGear's products are overpriced, especially being the fact that they are not the "Real" thing. Sim gear in general is overpriced! Corporate greed at work!

Excellent except for one thing....
Once set up, this is a great product. Buttons and knobs feel realistic. The only issue I have is setting up the screen. You have to kind of monkey the screen into position on that additional monitor it adds. However, once you do that, it stays place great...until you do a resolution change. They need to design a custom GUI into their product instead of relying on the "add" monitor design.Otherwise, I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get really good on the GNS 530 - I am a CFI/CFII.

Quality is very disappointing
I can’t believe how cheaply made this thing is! I read a review that said the build quality was lacking so I lowered my expectations. I should have lowered them further…First, it feels cheap. Very cheap. Second, im not sure what they were thinking when they placed the HDMI jack, and power jack (it’s not USB powered). Even with the supplied right angle adapter (they know they screwed up) for the HDMI it still can’t sit flush. Expect to find a way to mount it or buy their $60 stand. The buttons are clicky, which is nice, but they also feel lose and wobbly. Push a button and the buttons next to that one move. They are NOT BACKLIT! Not sure why I thought they would be. It’s not advertised as such. I guess that was just an expectation since all the rest of my sim gear has backlit buttons. It’s also very deep. Almost two inches. It feels hollow so I’m not sure why it needs to be so big…Not sure if this one is related to the build quality but the screen is blurry. To an annoying degree. The contrast is not good. Might just be the way msfs exports. But it still stinks.Setup isn’t as bad as the other reviews are stating. I guess maybe they came up with an easier way. It also seems to work just fine with MSFS 2020. I had none of the issues described in the other reviews. It’s not plug and play but the install instructions worked just fine. All in all it works fine, the install was easy, but I can’t get over how poorly made it is. It’s bad enough that I want to put it in the box and send it back.

Great addition to any Flight Sim Cockpit.
This is a step up in realism in my already realistic simulator. The ability to twist real knobs and push discrete buttons adds immersive depth to the experience. I fly Garmin equipment in my real-life aircraft and have installed and flown the GNS-530 in several aircraft. The only thing missing is button backlighting, but I can live with that for this price. I bought the desk stand and mounted it onto a RAM mount to enable me to position the unit in a convenient location. Great transfer of knowledge for training at home.

Buy it to add to the realism of the game.
It gives you the real feelings when using it. A bit tricky to install but if you can follow the instructions and a bit of YouTube will get you there. It did not come with the rack although I thought this was included in the price. There was no HDMI cable included in the box although it is required to get the monitor connected. Other than that, the display is great and the knobs produce nice clicking sound which added to the realism of the game.

This is a terrific, realistic add on
This item has been a very exciting and realistic addition to my home flight simulator. I did however, have to use their technical support folks to set it up, it was an easy process.
