This book contains a lot of good information for people interested in going into school administration

full disclosure first...(i do know how to use capitals but this is stylistic for various reasons.) and wayne was my major professor, doctoral advisor and dissertation chairman in 1970-73. but i have used what he taught and what this book presents in many circumstances since (up to the white house and senior corporate life) and even wrote and taught the federal opm course (federal executive leadership seminar) based on waynes teachings which are all included in this books and the updated multiple times since, with the best info out there. bottom line: this book is fantastic and very useful if you absorb the concepts! yes, it is a dense read but if you wish an overview of executive administrative and leadership theory, research and applying that to practice, and all the conceptual iterations thereof, it can't be beat. anyone in education or any field (schools, corporate, non-profit or government) in which they wish to rise to (and maintain) a leadership position should read and study this book. and, if you are expecting to do a dissertation in ed leadership or org leadership there are hundreds of possible topics that can be gleaned, synthesized and extrapolated from this book -- easy to do! it is the best of the best and i've read a lot of them. What is contained herein had been instrumental to my personal career.

Wonderful comprehensive text for anyone teaching a course in organizational theory or educational administration. Easy to read, great for grad students who are studying for comprehensive exams in educational leadership or educational administration. Hoy and Miskel have created a wonderfully thorough 8th edition that incorporates current research, Seminole works, and clear definitions to help anyone understand the field better. Also, Hoy's website offers many incredible tools to assist instructors and students with research instruments, powerpoints, articles, quizzes, and even a cookbook!

This book meets its purpose, to read and use when completing course work. Several pages were stuck together and it was a bit worn looking. No big deal since it is a rental.

Book was written in and spine glue let go leaving pages loose. But kept all pages, was able to use and will send back on date.

It's no fairytale- but covers the concepts thoroughly. Keep a few index cards with you to jot down definitions. Also, be sure to check out Hoy's website. He's even got family recipes on there.

First time renting a textbook and I will definitely do it again in the near future. Thank you!
