Good construction and value. Works well!
So, I bought this because someone wrote a review saying that the nut used to connect it to your shower arm coming out of the wall was one that could twist/spin, to allow for the extender arm to be positioned exactly as you wish. Well, that review was written in 2013, and the manufacturer has since welded the nut. I was worried, but there was no need to be. The welded nut went on perfectly, and positioned just right.I've not noticed the "this materials used are so thin" reviews that some others complain of. It installed without any bending or twisting. I mean, it has a nut that you use a wrench to tighten (using a cloth over, to prevent scratching). Are these people just twisting it on and using the arm itself to tighten? Of course it will bend and mangle using that method! Install it using proper methids, and you should be fine.Someone else linked a different (preferred, to them) arm in their review that has a larger diameter tubing ... insinuating that this tubing on this is too small for adequate water flow. Nonsense! There is plenty of water flow from this ... and we have just average water pressure. I DID take the diverter out of the shower head we bought to go with it, and it works brilliantly.P.S. the reviewer who posted the above-mentioned link to a larger diameter arm failed to mention that the larger arm was also twice the price of this one! Umm ... duh. Of course you get more when you pay more. The joints on this unit are strong, and the arm stays in place with the rainshower head attached. No weird engineering required, and the joints just tightened by the thumbscrews.I would buy this product again. A good value, and a good price.

Perfect (MUST have both tightening knobs on left side) and handles my 3.6 lb, 12-inch steel rain shower head
I wasn't sure about getting this item but reviewed a ton of others. At the time, I was ordering the heavy "Yodel 12 Inch Solid Square Ultra Thin Stainless Steel Rain Shower Head" and this was the suggested item as an extension arm for that shower head. I don't always order a suggested item so, I checked out other reviews and there was still some risk as some other reviewers had problems with it holding the weight of their various types of large shower heads. Some reviewers complained it didn't hold the weight and others had suggestions of adding a metal washer and still others suggested tightening it extremely tight, etc. Well, I received it and removed the older shower head, and left the standard short bent arm extension in the wall. I was getting ready to install one end of this extension and noticed the washers weren't pushed in enough. I know from experience that screwing the ends in might not force the washers to go in the rest of the way properly so I used a flat head screwdriver to press them in further so they were relatively in enough evenly where screwing in the ends will get them in the rest of the way properly. While the washers appear to be too large, they're not; that's just how they appear, a bit different than hose washers that will be flat when inserted. After pushing in the washers a bit to be deeper inside the ends, I screwed in one end until snug, then screwed on the heavy steel 12-inch rain shower head until it was snug. I then raised it up high and tightened both knobs and slowly released it. To my amazement and disappointment, I watched it slowly sink downward. So, I lifted it up high again and tightened both knobs as tight as they would go (no tools) as I could feel that they stopped at a certain point and wouldn't go further w/o damage. It held in place but barely. So, I wasn't feeling good about this at all. I read some reviews again and thought I'd better not rely on adding a washer, using a tool to go beyond the hand tightening, etc. So, I looked at the manufacturer's photos and noticed the 2 tightening knobs were on the left and my knobs (and some of the reviewers) were on the right. So, I slightly loosened one of the knobs and noticed it came down smoothly but raised upward with resistance. So, sure enough, I turned the extension bar rightward 1/2 turn so the 2 tightening knobs were now on the left side (when facing the shower wall extension) and it was perfect. Now when loosened, they raised smoothly and tended to resist when lowered so they locked in place easily and firmly. I don't even have to tighten them as tight as before. What a relief!!! Also, I didn't use any teflon tape or putty; the washers seem to be fine and I have zero leaks or seepage. Hope this helps others.

Very good, but some concerns are warranted.
After reading the various reviews for this and similar items I decided on this one. My primary reluctance after all the research was the possiblity of restricted flow, and after receiving the item I could see where people's concerns were coming from. The item is very narrow and definitely gives the impression that it will reduce the total flow to the shower head. I purchased the Moen S6320 Velocity Two-Function 8-Inch Diameter Rainshower Showerhead at the same time which has a 2.5 gal/minute flow rate. Once installed the flow seemed okay, but I decided to measure it just to see. In one minute the total flow through the shower head was 9 quarts, or 2.25 gallons. Assuming the 2.5 gallon per minutes flow through the shower head is accurate, the extention has slightly reduced the total water flow. While some might be bothered by this reduction, for me it is still sufficient and I believe the overall benefits outweigh this drawback. On the plus side, it is very solid. Some of the other arms had plastic knobs and compaints that they either leaked or couldn't hold the shower head up. As I already mentioned, I am using this with an eight inch rainshower head and I have had none of those problems. It tightened in position fine and still hasn't moved or leaked after a few weeks of use.The primary problem with this arm for me, and the reason for only four stars, is that the nut which attaches to the pipe from the wall is welded in place. This might be okay when things don't need to be lined up in a precise way, but obviously this arm does. There are only two positions in the entire 360 degree arc in which it will work. It took a little tinkering. Put it on, take it off, add a little more tape etc., but still in the end I was forced to really crank on it to get it to line up properly. It worked, although it really needs a floating nut to attach with. All things considered I am quite satisfied with the purchase and believe it is better than most of the other options I looked at.
