One of my favorite pencils
This pencil has been a life saver for me over the years.I draw and write constantly, almost every day. But I have an extreme anxiety problem leading to an over gripping issue that caused carpal tunnel and finger issues. Before I had carpal tunnel surgery using these pencils helped keep me from pain and losing feeling as often.I still use them because they help me from over gripping (which was causing issues in my fingers due to pressure and causing my fingers to lock into odd positions) and are just comfortable. They're more expensive sometimes and I have to order them online but they're worth it.The fact that they offer it in 0.5 is a big time bonus for me, as that is my preferred lead size.OH! And one of my favorite features is the long twist eraser that comes right out of the pencil. You can buy refills easily again online.I am ALWAYS willing to spend the couple extra bucks or so for one of these pencils. Sakura is part of one of my favorite art supply companies ever. I lucked out this time, after waiting and shuffling my cart a million times, running across it at a really good price. I never regret these pencils.-- only thing I get annoyed by is the long/ thick/ nondetachable pocket clip. You can detach it but it takes the entire top of the pencil with and it just looks so odd. haha.

pure nostaliga
you weren’t cool in elementary school in Hawaii if you didint have this pencil in the early 000’s. the grip is easy on arthritic hands.

It is SO nice to have a pencil that fits my hand
I have joint and tendon issues and this pencil lets me grip it loosely and still write legibly.

Get a Grip!
The media could not be loaded. This is a great thick barrel mechanical pencil with a fine tip! The clear barrel is also a cool design!

Favorite pencil; vendor put ugly sticker that's difficult to remove on it.
Favorite pencil. Unfortunately, the reseller put an ugly sticker on it that's difficult to remove.

An impulse purchase which was good!
I am a student of manga drawing. A student as in the case of trying to learn it on my own.I am always looking at drawing materials and on impulse purchased this mechanical pencil. This is a nice pencil. Though I would wonder if it's better suited for writing then drawing. I like it for minor sketching and doodling. I am not skilled enough to declare it good for serious drawing. In the past I was kind of a hard holder of writing tools. To the point you would find a dent in my middle finger. I changed to mechanical pencils like this one and started using Sakura pens and in time found that dent disappeared. It's not cheap and yet I found it's worth the extra cost. I have dropped it a couple times and it still works. I have had a couple theme pencils and they broke when I dropped them.I am happy with this purchase.

Best Mechanical Pencil You Can Buy
I looove this Mechanical Pencil.I originally picked this up at my local art shop when I was looking for lead for a drafting class.First things first it is very light. I bought is as a replacement for the ergonomic "Ph.D" by Sanford. The Ph.D weighs about 4 times as much as the Sumo. Writing with the PH.D is VERY tiring and causes finger and wrist strain after a couple of hours of writingIm an Engineering student that has to do A LOT of equation solving by hand and this pencil has gotten me through so much.I love the twist eraser that comes with is as the size since you can use the common Sanford erasor (which is not very good but accessible) . Also the lead is awesome, its HB but it seems to be darker and easier to erase than other HBs.I have nothing but good things to say other than I wish I could find this in other department stores rather than just at my local art store and Amazon.

Ergonomic perfection.
I bought this when I lost my Papermate PhD. (If you have a Papermate PhD - which is now discontinued- save it to sell on EBay and use this instead. Today the best price for a Papermate PhD is $30.) When I found my Papermate I was already in love with this lighter-than-air Sakura Sumo. It has a fat squishy grip and a full-sized eraser. It is well-balanced; and as mentioned, has very little weight. It comes in two lead sizes, 0.5 and 0.7. It is available in three colors: blue, black, and this white. Different sizes/colors come from different vendors.I removed the (perfectly serviceable) leads and replaced them with 4B extra-soft leads, also available on Amazon, (by Pentel, Pilot, Uni, others). This allows me to make a dark stroke using very little pressure that erases easily.
