Perfect replacement for an old Gaggia
When the plastic handle on our almost 20-year-old Gaggia classic cracked, I was worried we’d have to get a new espresso machine. But no fear, this portafilter from Amazon saved the day! It fits like our old one, and feels identical.It came with a new-fangled filter that only has one teeny hole at the bottom. This filter caused liquid to shoot out the side of the portafilter. Even after replacing the gasket, it still leaked. So we went back to using our old metal filter, the handle worked fine after that. So maybe we can’t use the latest in espresso tech, but the machine works and the coffee tastes great!

This is not replacement made by Gaggia
This portafilter has a cheap piece of plastic for the handle. It feels like it's super fragile. The grip on the handle is not as well designed as the original - it feels awkward in the hand.If you look in the description, it lists a different manufacturer. NOT GAGGIA. (Although it does fit the machine.) Go to Gaggia North America website to order actual replacement.

The replacement piece is not as good quality as the item that broke - the arm is hollow, and may be subject to similar issues that caused me to replace the first arm of the coffee and filter part. My original coffee holding arm was a solid handle - I would be willing to pay more for a replacement that is a solid core handle as well.
