How do you get the back cover off to install the batteries?

To get the maximum water protection, the back cover of our Road Flares are screwed with 2 Phillips screws (the package contains matching screwdriver as well). you checked that all the batteries are "good" and are installed in the proper order? you read all the instructions, etc.? You pressed hard enough in the right sequence as specified in the instructions? If yes to both, you might have a bad batch. But before returning them, why not ask a neighbor to go through the process and see if someone else can make them work.
