Eight years before reviewing
It took me since this album first came out ( 2005 ) until now ( dec-2013 ) to write a review. Being a fan ever since his first album playing every instrument himself, now finding Dave being backed with a great band.Anyway, this album kinda grew on me. With the "tail part " being my favourite CD at first to a full appreciation of both "Horns & Tail ".Ofcourse I must mention my favourite track "Virginia moon " with Norah Jones which is loved even by my parents and other people who are not into rock at all.( imagine the contrast of reaction everytime when I let them hear the rockside of Dave,...kills me everytime..lol ). And the other "Razor " which I haven't quite figured out yet. It's a dark kind of ballad, maybe even scary. I can't place it because it's like a painting of which I can't keep my eyes of because it catches you but you can't really explain why...so you just keep on looking & looking.

Dave Grohl Is God
As an avid Foo fan, I am just trying to complete my collection at this point. As an EP, this is just what I expected... the title even gives it away: 'Five songs and a cover'. Two live songs, two Demos, an unreleased song, and a cover compromise this EP so if you aren't a hardcore Foo Fighters fan, this probably isn't for you! However, for 'hardened vets', this is a great buy!

GREAT
ordered this for my son and he loves it. He has played for days. The CD was in great shape and shipping was quick. I only had to hear "is it here yet" 30 times instead of 90. So we are all happy.....

Excellent collection of little-known songs mixed with raw and powerful versions of familiar songs. A 'must-have' if you are an avid Foo Fighters fan.

An Excellent Set of B-sides
I'd like to preface this review by saying that this album is actually titled "Five Song And A Cover", not "4 Stars", although it is hard to determine the actual title because it's not anywhere on the actual CD. With that being said, I only have good things to say about this album...I've had this record for about two years now after finding it at a Best Buy, and I have to say, it's probably the best collection of b-sides the Foos have ever released. I know that's a pretty bold statement, but I'm fairly confident that it will live up to that title for many others.Just like Josh Irby has commented, the first two tracks are pretty much the same songs we've all come to know from "In Your Honor", and having a demo version of "DOA" is simply novelty; however, I will say that the "Best of You (Live)" track is a very good performance.Skin and Bones is a great, simple little song that has kind of a dark tone to it. Dave has done it live since the In Your Honor tour, and on through the Echoes tour, as well. There's also a live CD/DVD performance that the Foos did in LA, and it's titled "Skin and Bones". You can easily find videos of that concert on YouTube, and listen to the song for yourself before buying.I haven't heard "World" too many times, but I do remember it being a pretty good song, and I feel like it reminded me of the Foos' "There Is Nothing Left To Lose" days."I Feel Free" is probably my favorite track off this record, mainly because of a long story, but here's a shorter version: when I was about 13 years old and in 7th grade (I'm 20 now), I began playing guitar, and on the bus ride home from school, I would listen to the original version of this song every single day. I was new with the instrument and I was also infatuated with Clapton's guitar playing. Years later, my tastes had expanded to alternative rock, and I eventually found this album. The Foos' rendition is literally SPOT ON. The vocals, the guitar solo, everything. It's nice to see bands do their own thing with covers every once in a while, but in this case, they played it almost exact and they completely did the song justice. If anyone is a fan of the original, they should have no problem with this song."FFL", which stands for "Fat F***ing Lie", brings Dave back to his days when he was with Scream, screaming his way through the song (pun completely intended). It's probably one of the most punk-rock songs that the Foos have, giving songs like "Weenie Beenie" and "Wattershed" a run for their money. All in all, this little collection of songs is fantastic, and I'm surprised not many have heard of it. Any fan of the Foo Fighters really ought to have this. Also, I recently saw this at my local Best Buy being sold for 99 cents, which is an absolute STEAL. I consider the price for this listing to be an excellent deal for this album. Anyway, hope this review is helpful. Great set of songs for a great price.

Worth getting..hard to find!
Oddly enough, this was a "Best Buy" only release EP that contains a "must-have" track IMO, the only place you can find a studio version of "Skin And Bones" which is one of the Foo's best acoustic numbers. Why it was never included on "In Your Honor" is beyond me since it is a concert staple and it appears live from the "Skin And Bones" Live CD on their "Greatest Hits" album. So, if ya love that track..get this! Starting the EP(I call "Bison") is a great live version of "Best Of You".Then, you get Dave Grohl demos and if you know Foo Fighter history...basically, the first album is a demo! Dave plays all instruments on both "DOA" and the not well known "World". Then a Cream cover that surprisingly stays veru close to the original of "I Feel Free". Right down to the "ba,ba,ba,ba,babub" and dreamy vocals. Another exclusive track! "FFL" is a screamer! Loud, distorted vocals...different from the rest of the EP. All in all a must for a "Foo Fighter-fanatic"!

Too Much $$$$$ Overpriced for what it’s worth.
Big Foo Fighters fan. I have all of their albums. Had a 5$ coupon to soften the blow but not worth 35$15$ max would have been suffice.
