'Battlestar Galactica' is a hugely engrossing science fiction drama. The special edition DVD box set is nicely presented.

I only started watching this magnificent series at the end of season 3, when the Baltar trial started. I was enthralled, and bought this limited edition collection to catch up on everything. This isn't a sci-fi show, but a solid drama that happens to be set in outer space.All in HD, the episodes play in as cinematic format, some episodes are previously unaired extended editions, which are a real treat. With no episode list, though, one can get a normal sized episode on one disk, on to get an extended edition on the next. A minor quibble on this beautiful collection.Razor is here, with only 'The Plan' missing, as it hadn't been issued yet. I have that now, and is just a companion to the main collection.If there is anyone out there who hasn't seen BSG, you won't know what you have missed!"What do you hear, Starbuck?" Have just finished the series proper and wow, what a journey! So glad this was made for TV rather than cinema (although it has a real cinematic feel; the space battle scenes are so well done they almost feel like 3D in parts) because this gives you a chance to get to know and love (or hate) the characters. They (and the audience) go on a real journey of discovery about themselves and their respective societies (both human and Ceylon) and as is often the way with American drama, you feel that there is a moral in the tale (rammed home particularly hard but with humour in the final episode). Well worth the money for hours of brilliant entertainment. Now we just have to watch The Plan, Razor, Caprica...

Having watched this series when I was knee high to a grasshopper, it was so good to actualy buy a piece of my past. The series that takes you from Caprica and onwards to a shiny planet called earth (little do they know). The thrills and spills as they struggle onwards to escape the ever ominipresent Cylons.Starbuck, Apollo, Boomer, Cassi et all make a remarkable cast and indeed crew on board the Battlestar Galactica. Adama and Tigh the stalwarts on the bridge, the mix is superb. Although by todays standards the effects are meek and sketchy, it still makes this boxset a gem to own and to watch. So why the 3 stars rating? well the quality does leave a lot to be desired...my version anyway. I would probably spend a few more pennies and get the DVD boxsets (yes there are two...and rather cool they are) It would be worth it for the extras. Go buy the boxset and lets finish those Cylons off once and for all.

Bought this as a christmas present for my sci-fi nut nephew.Watched it to make sure all disc were fine.I then remembered how much i loved the series,looks like i will be shopping for another present for him!!!
