Buffalo Tools PWP40: 40 Gallon Replacement Parts Washer Pump

My set up is custom, using old stuff, so my review is based on using this motor in a set up it was not designed for. I utilize a full size solvent tank like you see with safety clean, except my tank is a 55 gallon drum. I put a 5 gallon pail inside that drum, which is where the pump goes and the waste solvent returns to. I utilize a flow thru brush that I drilled out and tapped 1/4 npt. The fitting in the brush is more of a 3/8 barb, though. I had to wire an old extension cord to this pump, and heat shrink the connections with special shrink that becomes chemical proof. Happy to say that the connections do not actually contact the solvent directly, though they may get a little splashed on.Then, put a fitting on the pump itself...I think I needed to reduce it down to 3/8 or 1/4. Used a clear chemical resistant tubing to run from pump to brush, and tested it out. The solvent comes out too fast. This baby can move some fluid, that is for sure. But for cleaning that way I am used to cleaning, through the brush, I want just enough flow to keep washing away debris, but not enough to splash around in. So, I put one of those cheap brass air regulators at the brush handle and dial in the flow I want. The beauty of this is that once in a great while, I need to fill a coffee can with solvent to do some quick car or motorcycle cleaning elsewhere. Open the regulator to full, fills the can up super fast.So far, love the pump.Currently running Naphtha Solvent, which I had a lot of. Once completely gone, will switch back to Agitene, which I had used for years, and still think is the best solvent out there.UPDATE: It has been almost a year now, and the pump has worked very well up until now. It does not like soaking in solvent for a year. The housing is warping and weakening causing the propellor to stick, the front housing and filter to fall off, and the inlet on top to crack.The price is right, but what I would do differently...rig something to suspend the pump out of the solvent when not in use. We shall see if drying out repeatedly causes its own set of problems. Also, instead of a galvanized pipe for the inlet, I would try a plastic nipple, lightly screw it in, using JB weld or similar as a pipe seal.

Perfect replacement for my Harbor Freight parts washer pump. The old pump finally gave out and this one was a direct fit and seems to work as good or better than the original. Easy install for the pump and wiring. I hope it lasts as long as the original. I work it hard on an infrequent basis. Time will tell. Good price, fast shipping with Prime.

I ordered the 20 gallon pump and it didn't work so I ordered , I haven't installed this one yet so I have no opinion of it yet

I needed to circulate fluid in a basin in order to flush out a rusty fuel tank. Ran for days with no issues.

I was a little apprehensive because it was about 1/3 of the price of one from granger . But it has worked great. Had to do a little modification to get it to fit in my pars washer but was really easy. I am very happy with this purchase.
