SUNWAYFOTO DMP-200R Rail Nodal Slide w Arca RRS Compatible Clamp DMP200R Sunway

I recently discovered SUNWAYFOTO and have been nothing be pleased with their products. They are a fraction of the cost of the Really Expensive Stuff on the market and quite frankly, just as good, and did I say at a fraction of the cost. This nodal rail is finely machined from solid aluminum with a nice anodized finish. This precision made Arca Swiss compatible rail also features a fully marked reference scale on both sides of the 200mm rail as well as the thumb screw clamp. Securely attaches to my Really Expensive Stuff ball head with no flex or unwanted movement. Sure it's made over there but unfortunately I can't justify spending considerably more money just to Buy American when comparable and/or superior products are made elsewhere. I support Buy American when it makes sense, but I also support my family and my bank account, and that comes first. How many of us have cameras made in the USA?

Purchased this to use with my Really Right Stuff setup. It's a rail and I didn't want to pay 2x as much for the RSS one and my guess was right. I wasn't really all that warm and fuzzy ordering this, just a hunch on shear logic. It's aluminum and has an Arca Swiss grove, what could go wrong?Turns out the action on the thumb screw is really good with tension from 2 springs. I can't really tell if the thumb screw is plastic or aluminum, I'm leaning towards aluminum because it has the same feel as the rest of the rail.The scale goes from 0 - 95 to the front and then 0 - 40 towards the clamp side. No flexing or bowing at all. There really isn't much more to this.I'm using this with RSS B2-AS-II-1/4-20: Lever-release clamp. I decided not to get a Sunwayfoto panning clamp to go along with this. I'm used to leveling legs fairly quick.I will say this is of the same quality of my RSS ball head and clamp. After setting up and checking the parallax points on each lens I use for panoramic photography, I was really pleased with this purchase. Packaging was excellent!My Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L at 24mm is at 93 on the scale to eliminate parallax and there isn't much since the scale goes to 95.Canon 16-36mm f/2.8L and Canon 24mm f/1.4L worked out as well.

This was my second purchase from Sunwayfoto and I've been please with the design and build of both.

This is my ignorance to a large extent so it really doesn't speak to the quality of the rail. I started reading about using a nodal rail to eliminate parallax in panoramas. So I looked and this one seemed a reasonable price and ordered it. Turns out, as I'm sure most buying this know, this is is just part of a bigger system. The rail by itself will not allow you to mount your camera to a tripod to eliminate parallax. There are NO instructions with this rail, zero. There are NO instructions on the sunwsyfoto site. There are insufficient dimensions given on the site to know what will fit if I order enough other pieces to use this. I'm pretty disgusted by the whole thing at this point.

Quality product. Great finish and detail.

No need to keep moving tripod or camera support during macro or close up photography as you can move camera and lens with this for obtaining the correct distance for your photograph by simply sliding this rail on the tripod with the camera mounted. Works perfect!
