Isn't Universal, I was lucky
I needed a stand that would work well with my iPad Mini (retina) for my concession business. I needed something that would allow my tablet to use Square card reader, then swivel so the customer could sign without ever picking up or touching the tablet. This worked perfectly. The bottom is nicely weighed so the unit stays planted (although I do wish it had a mounting option). The clamps on the left and right are made of a rubber material along with the dark grey circle between the clamps, ensuring no harm to your tablet while its clamped in. The base can rotate the entire tablet 360, the same way a person can swivel around in an office chair. And for even more versatility, the hinge that connects the top half to the lower half can flip your tablet to be viewed by someone opposite from you, which is perfect for over the tablet encounters. But looking at how the stand is set up, I can say I was one of the lucky ones. This stand probably wouldn't work with half of other tablets. The clamps that you see in the provided picture only slide out about an inch on each side, and are spring loaded. So whatever tablet that requires the clamps to stretch will fit nice and tight. However, like some iPad users here, when the iPad is in portrait mode (home button at the bottom), this doesn't stretch the clamps, leaving only the non slip rubber on the clamps to keep the iPad in place (thus the reason behind the 1 star reviewers complaint and loose iPads). I would think this is the case for only the iPad AirTrying to explain dimensions on something square could be confusing (height, width, and depth can be confused with one another) so here's a general rule for this stand- if one of your tablets dimensions is between 6.5-7.9 inches, then it would fit one way or another. The dimensions for a Nexus 10 are 10.4 x 7 x .4, so it would fit. Same with the iPad mini. However, the Kindle Fire HDX dimensions are beyond 7.9 inches or below 6.5, so it might not. Also, forget about having a case on while this tablet is clamped in. I recommend a full body plastic film protector, like Bodyguardz or SkinomiBut all in all, the stand works perfect for my needs, and makes my business look very professional for a low price. And as many people have said after searching forever, its the only one of its kind at this price

"My Long Search Is Now, SUCCESSFUL!"
I Own(2),Samsung Galaxy tab S2, 9.8in screen tablets. Impossible to find a bookcover/magnetic type folder to position them in a Horizontal position easily. > NEVER IN A VERTICAL POSITION!!This Kantek(TS710) Tablet Stand, from Amazon, is perfect! Supports strongly in BOTH directions. Horizontal & VERTICAL!Exactly as described! Follow instructions carefully. Best to secure tablet by pulling ONE grip arm open,Insert tablet, close arm. The arms only stretch to support the middle area of tablet, not the Long Full Length & without any book cover or pouch. Note ALSO; The tablet holder & arms, Rotate, IN ONE DIRECTION ONLY!! DO NOT FORCE Holder(arms) in the Opposite Direction!! It WILL Rotate,> IN A FULL COMPLETE CIRCLE! But in just ONE, ONLY ONE! direction. Per instructions. Top tilts full forward (vertical), to completely backwards. Base spins in a complete circle, 360 degrees smoothly. Base is Heavy, w/small round, rubber, non-scratch pads. Won't flip over or sideways, without being hit/knocked Very hard. The arms hold my tablet strong, w/small rubber contacts, no slipping or scratching, self adjusting. Stand assembles very easily, clear instructions included.(2)pieces snap together, then (1)screw,(included), to connect to the base. The Bottom of tablet, in horizontal position, completely downwards, is roughly 3.5 to 4.0 inches from tabletop. This stand was SO hard to find, is EXACTLY what I needed, & sturdy, hard plastic made, I just ordered another one from Amazon! On time delivery & well packaged. Great item! See pics.

Good stand, works well for my application
I use this stand for recording music and video as well as to look at lyrics or chord changes while playing music. I live in a small studio so the weighted base takes up less space than a traditional tripod and it is a heavy, sturdy base. The stand has the advantage of being able to put down pretty low without a gooseneck, which is another reason why I purchased this one, sit I am usually sitting on a chair and needed one to be level with my eyes and did not want a gooseneck since I would have to move the stand back which would take up more room. The actual part that grabs the iPad is sturdy and secure but it could use some padding or something because these stands work best without a case. Comparing it to my Hoverbar Duo, the Kantek has much harder edges where the iPad goes in. However, it holds it well and does not fall down. Some cons is that 1. it is expensive, really overpriced for what it is, but it was one of the only few short, weighted base, non-gooseneck options on Amazon. Also, you are able to position the iPad up but with the design, you can't angle it downwards. Overall it is not perfect and expensive but I think it will hold up for a few years and works well for my application.

Great value for a very handy and useful stand.
This stand was purchased for use in our café to hold our IPad mini which we use as our Square register. The device we use measures 5 1/4 inches x 7 7/8 inches. We use a landscape orientation for our register. The width or our device really stretched the expandable grip holders about as far as they would expand. The stand comes in three pieces and assembles easily by inserting just one screw in the bottom. We love how the stand rotates and tilts so that our patrons can sign for their purchases. The height is perfect for our use as it is placed on top of our cash drawer. The base is weighted so that the stand won't tip over. The expandable grip that holds the device in place is very strong. There is plenty of room to swipe a credit card if you use a card reader that plugs into the port on your IPad. I did have to remove the protective flip cover that we have kept our device in so that it would fit in the holder part of the stand. Overall, for the price I paid for this stand, I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Sturdy construction.
Well-weighted metal construction. A good fit for a 10" iPad. I like that it swivels although that does make it a two-handed task to use the home button due to the necessary landscape orientation.

It's Exactly What I Was Looking For
I was mostly concerned about the base toppling over because it's basically free-standing but it's actually stable and does the job. I'm happy with this purchase and will not hesitate to buy it again.
